I don't "believe" it will work very well. DNRTFA obvs NYP and not going to gin the data to test my hypothesis. See what I did there? It's early and I'm busy so cut me some slack.

Cops talking about science?  You mean, how to spell it?

2021-07-17 7:46:07 AM
It goes against science, yes.

But, here's the important part...

WE CAN'T TRUST THAT PEOPLE WITHOUT MASKS ARE VACCINATED!!!

People lie and do stupid shiat. Sorry, thems are the facts. Masks work and for fark sake it's not that bad.

None of these assholes will be happy until we have a vaccine resistant strain that impacts them and their family.

2021-07-17 8:11:02 AM
Mask mandates are pointless now. The people who would wear them are vaccinated or still wearing them. The people who wouldn't are not vaccinated

It's always up to the private business to enforce laws anyway..  You don't see cops hanging around bars and restaurants carding people, it's those establishments that enforce those laws... as well as mandates for masks.

As far as the cop not enforcing the law here, he will.  When a business tells you to get the fark out because you're not wearing a mask, you're now trespassing and sheriff numbnuts has to enforce that law when you call the cops to remove said person whether he likes it or not.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva said that his department was too underfunded to make sure residents comply with the public health order

Well, we defunded the police. Mission accomplished!

I'm sure community policing will take care of making sure people wear masks.

It is known on Fark.

I'm vaxxed and still mask up every time I go into any public place. I'd rather be mistaken for unvaccinated and responsible than put myself and other people at risk.

Pretty sure its up to the courts to interpret the law. The cops are just the muscle.

Hey sheriff cock-knuckle... leave the thinky parts up to the judgey people in the big courty-house.

Cops do hang around bars and restaurants carding people.  It is called working a "detail" and it is how cops have made extra money for decades.  Private businesses hire cops in their official capacity to do this.

And cops choose what they enforce and not enforce all the time.

Example.

I live in Ocala, Florida.  Local police chief refused to enforce local mask mandate.  Then he doubled down forbade his officers to wear a mask while wearing a uniform.  So the cops lost all those sweet details jobs because they could not wear a mask to enforce the mask mandate.  The top cop then blamed the liberals on the cops losing their extra cash.

Ironically the chief died in a plane crash.

The police in LA county defunding he is talking about is actually for all the social programs, and the chief chose which ones to defund.  The cops defunded all the community programs.

· Elimination of other unfunded full-time patrol positions, including:
o Youth Activities League (YAL)
o School resource deputy
o Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives (VIDA)
o Nuisance abatement
o Community Relations Team
o Search and rescue coordinator
· Parks Bureau would be eliminated. Slashing law enforcement services presently dedicated to providing a safe and drug free environment at all Los Angeles County parks, golf courses and special venues will offer a $32.5 million savings. The areas would become the responsibility of the patrol station in which they lie;
· Community Partnership Bureau (COPS) would be eliminated. COPS teams provide supplemental services to residences in our unincorporated areas, specifically addressing the unique and individual needs of each area by identifying crime trends, and quality of life and crime trends. Cutting this bureau would offer a $30 million savings;
· Curtailment of Detective Division positions. Personnel who investigate some of the most heinous crimes, identify dangerous trends, and create new and updated ways of protection against them would be reassigned to fill a funded vacancy elsewhere in our Department. The savings are clearly substantial:
o Special Victims Bureau, $23.5 million
§ Human trafficking
§ Child abuse
§ Sexual assaults
o Operation Safe Streets (Gang Investigations Bureau), $38.8 million
o Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau, $13.4 million
o Major Crimes Bureau, $22.1 million

COVID-19-related fatalities were the single highest cause of officer line-of-duty deaths in 2020.

Maybe he just wants to make this happen for 2 years in a row.

When people who have been fully vaccinated start getting full-blown COVID and it becomes common knowledge the mandate is the least scary aspect.  So far, it's just Jim and Nancy that I know of.

Interestingly, the health department is now using a different term, dropping the 99% stat for all hospitalized COVID cases not being vaccinated.  They use "most" were not fully vaccinated.   They link that with "Delta variant is now dominant."   It must be a psychological trick not to turn people off from the vaccine by saying it's not perfect.

Enjoy the overfilled hospitals, exhausted staff, and the chance to participate in creating yet another variant at the end of the Greek alphabet and venturing into the Cyrillic.

The LASD has enough on their hands trying to solve their internal gang warfare problem.

Don't ask them to actually help the community, it's literally all they can do to keep from murdering one another and people on the street.

Maybe some areas very rural and north in the Lancaster area but not most of LA county?  There are right wing hot spots in Orange County and central and northern California.  LA county includes the massive urban sprawl from Pomona to Santa Monica and south to Long Beach.  That's all very Democratic.

Unfortunately, they're taking advantage of very old concepts of police discretion in the enforcement of misdemeanor laws.

That's a double-edged sword. For example here, several city departments refused to enforce the Anti-LGBT laws that the state passed under this concept. It's also why some municipalities can get away with not enforcing heavy-handed immigration laws.

Stay with me here.

What if we used the NATO phonetic alphabet?

Delta is still Delta. See the continuity!

Lambda variant from Peru becomes the Lima variant, and of course Peru is known for its llambdas. See the breadcrumbs!

If we make a pivot table of Ancienr Greek and  NATO alphabets to correlate with publicized covid variants you can see down the rabbit hole. It's dark in there.

In the old days, "Hollywood ending" meant that everything got solved and everyone was happy after 70 to 90 minutes. These days, "Hollywood ending" means that you only think the monster is dead, but there are really two or three more scary "endings" to go. Thanks, Hollywood. You've been a big help.
