The CRNC allocates votes to states based on chapter membership rolls submitted to it in February, which are then reviewed by an outside auditing firm. After this initial round of credentialing, 22 states were not allocated any votes - an unusual and "alarming" occurrence, according to CRNC treasurer Ty Seymour.

States are then permitted to appeal by asking for votes if they did not receive any, or asking for more if they believe themselves to be so deserving based on the numbers. The credentialing appeals meeting was held this past Sunday, July 11 and was presided over by an outside arbitrator, Jay Goldstein, who was hired by Thornton.

Thornton scheduled the meeting for 3 a.m. Pacific Time, which many involved saw as a way of making things difficult on Waxelbaum - who is from Arizona - and the coalition of states supporting him.

The results of the meeting shocked Waxelbaum and his supporters.

"Every single state that has endorsed me was denied their appeal, and every single state that my opponent was granted their appeal," Waxelbaum explained to National Review. "My opponent's home state of Virginia was increased from 4 votes to 7. So, for context, Virginia currently has more votes than California, New York, and Florida combined."

Wow.

This is a surprise to no one. Republicans aren't just denying votes to filthy liberals, they're attacking their own people for not being pure (crazy) enough.

Quite a few of the Kapitol Klux Klan said they didn't vote, because Trump convinced them the election was going to be rigged.

Meh. I loathe non-transcript audio almost as much as non-transcript video.

The piece did have links to some other articles, one of which included the line "CRT teaches that American ideals and institutions are mere fronts for white supremacy" -- which isn't accurate (CRT more seems to say that racism is one of the ideals that has contributed to the design of our institutions, resulting in many institutions contributing to racial inequities), but which oversimplifying message distortion does seem to provide a bit more explanation for the conservative reaction than merely "they're racist".

That irrelevancy aside, I'm doubtful that chaos among college Republicans is anything more than a comorbidity to the GOP's other problems.

Nice that the kids are getting the full GOP experience at a young age.

Chandler and Courtney? No way.

I guess it's good that they learn just how corrupt the GOP is early?

Read the names in this article.
Chandler Thornton
Courtney Britt
Judah Waxelbaum
Ty Seymour
Stephanie Torres

I'm surprised that Mayonnaise McWhitesOnly isn't a leading candidate. But tell me more about the Republicans effort to reach out to the non-white non-elitist people of our country. With up and comers like Judah and Ty and Chandler I expect it will be a formational plank in their platform.

If Republicans can keep power by suppressing liberal votes there's no reason for them to stop there. They can cut conservative voters out of the process as well. Ideally people will gain office through a combination of bribery and who their dad is

remember the 'lemon party' started by the GOP for no other reason than to stop people voting?   It was kinda popular with Fark Independents for awhile.

When you're a malevolently evil, conscienceless piece of shiat, and everyone you know - your family, your church, your community - is as well, of courseyou assume everyone is just as evil as you.

Sounds like the CRNC is just vote rigging 101 for the next generation of republican assholes activists.

I am getting bloated from my schadenfreude feasting. My country is on fire, probably sinking into fascism, but these GOP circular firing squads are hilarious, and give reason to hope.

Maybe the barking madness that will inevitably emerge from the 2022 GOP primaries will give us Dems a chance!

Chandler Thornton sounds like a character in a mid 80s movie. The person who is an arrogant, prep school student, who comes from generational wealth who devises a scheme to get back at the movie's hero because he rose above his station.

A character played by James Spader.

I first read that as " 'American Idol' (tm) is a front for white supremacy".  I nodded and figured it's probably true. .

Waxelbaum, Seymour, and Torres aren't very WASPy names. But then again, neither is Nick Fuentes, so I guess you never know.

2021-07-16 9:45:13 AM
Most of the disqualifications stemmed from the failure of states supporting Waxelbaum to produce two letters from universities in their states certifying that College Republican chapters are registered with them, as is required by the CRNC constitution.

The rules are the rules.

You have to let some in, for appearances and what not. I'm sure this Waxelbaum character knows his way around the university by-laws.

The right doesn't want democracy, they want royalty. No elected officials, just lines of succession.

Power and might by birth, not by merit.

I think we already knew the endgame of all this treachery was to remove all meaningful voting. If you can rig elections to make whomever you want win, why need any voters at all, including ones from your own party?

The rural rubes have been going along with it because they think it just sticks it to the libs, unaware that they'll be disenfranchised too.

They don't even want good looking royalty - they pick the absolute dregs of "high society"

"The new rule interpretation was, it would seem, weaponized to disenfranchise most of the pro-Waxelbaum states; Britt's coalition was extra careful not to tip off their opponents."

This sounds completely consistent with that the senior, national GOP. Totally on-brand.

The future conservative leaders of America, folks.

Every election is audited before its certified. That has been standard operating procedure since always.

There is zero reason for additional audits. Why would there be?

But you already knew this -- but you decided to spew bilious santorum on the thread, anyways.

We aren't opposed to actual, legitimate audits.   We are tired of the circuses that disingenuous farks such as yourself refer to as audits.

OH! Stupid me. I just realized this might more charitably be viewed as a reference to the CIA Triad model of security, and proclaiming integrity more important than accessibility (or confidentiality).

Of course, a cynic who trusts the modern GOP slightly less far than said cynic can drop-kick an elephant may still well ask "Under what basis for design preference?"

There are two standards :

1. All Citizens should be free and able to cast a vote in all elections

2. Only some people should be able to vote - ever

Pick one and stick to it.
#2 is not a recipe for long-term stability, politically.

2021-07-16 11:34:20 AM
Republican votes are never counted correctly.

Republicans should protest by refusing to vote in any election.

It would totally own the libs.

2021-07-16 11:53:24 AM
It's a good thing people who are white, conservative, middle class, able bodied and conventionally suburban aren't systematically having their right to vote stripped from them with the tacit approval of their peers who publicly vocalize just how much they THEMSELVES cherish said right... 'cause that would be farkin' tragic.
