The sad thing? This is the best that they could come up, and he got paid for that excuse.

There will be complaints about every nominee, as there should be. I would be suspicious of anyone the GOP claims to actually like.

2021-07-15 3:11:49 PM
These arguments against Biden's picks are getting dumber as we go. Not to mention Republican senators delaying all these nominations. We're almost six months into his term and we're still going through confirmation hearings because Mitch wouldn't start the confirmation process in December like we've done for farking ever.

2021-07-15 3:17:17 PM
A retired federal investigator involved with the case came forward Wednesday to allege that Tracy Stone-Manning engaged in "vulgar, antagonistic, and extremely anti-government" behavior during the 1989 investigation.

Sounds like an ideal candidate from the republican POV.

That deserves a hearty "Your concerns have been noted"

Michael Merkley was at how many trump rallies and was where on 1/6?

So why are they really against the pick? Because reasons?

FTFA: engaged in "vulgar, antagonistic, and extremely anti-government" behavior

So, just regular tourist behavior. What's the problem?

I didn't know Biden even picked the head of Black Lives Matter! He's got quite the bit of street cred - probably from back when he was a life guard.

2021-07-15 4:13:53 PM
The attempt to feign anger about Biden's administration in light of what they didn't give a fark about under the previous administration was always going to be embarrassing, but this is even sillier than I thought.

During the 1989 inquiry, Merkley wrote, "Ms. Stone-Manning was extremely difficult to work with; in fact, she was the nastiest of the suspects. She was vulgar, antagonistic, and extremely anti-government."

Well duh, we had a stupid Republican administration in charge at the time.   Environmenalists were spat upon as "treehuggers."    The reality is we need someone from that era of activism in charge now.

Hey! Why don't you be like a tree cop and get the heck out of here?

2021-07-15 4:15:03 PM
I don't know if it's proper for Biden to pick the head of BLM. I thought it was supposed to be a decentralized, grassroots movement.

What? Politico couldn't find the evidence that she was also a witch?  Don't they open their emails anymore?

He's mad that she's anti government.  So that means every Republican will vote to confirm?

Might be because she'd be competent at and engaged in her duties. Nothing scares conservatives more than a functional government.

It might also mean GOP donors might lose cheap and unfettered ability to destroy Federal lands for profit.

I have enough trouble spiking a watermelon. Booze never seems to soak in right, so I end up cutting it up and putting the melon pieces and booze in a bowl. Got mad respect for this lady if she can do a whole tree. How good are jello shoots?

Hillary as investigator for Watergate. Small hands. Pelosi ice cream. And you are telling them to get over it? Never happen. Pelosi ice cream will be a thing 30 years from now.

It's when you get a lumberjack drunk and take advantage. Also known as a Bill Cosby Bonsai, or Billy Bonsai.

It's a sabotage practice of driving metal spikes into trees so when the saw meets the spike, the saw is destroyed and pieces of the saw fly around, possibly injuring or killing loggers nearby.

Serious answer, I think it was some shiat environmental types did (no idea what the "spiking" part entails) to trees or in forested areas to make them difficult or impossible to "harvest."

It's too bad the 9/11 terrorists weren't hardcore environmentalist hippie types or the Republicans might have actually given a shiat and felt it necessary to do something to prevent it.

Vaguely recall you can kill off a tree if you toss a spike (made with a particular metal) in the trunk of the tree.

IIRC, the Trump admin was able to do that by either promoting subordinates already in those areas or moving people who had been confirmed previously in one role to another role (Mulvaney was confirmed for director of OMB and then got switched to acting director of CFPB). The Trump admin even created a lower level job for Cuccinelli so they could promote him to acting director of USCIS (a judge later ruled that promotion illegal).

Brazen shiats.

Typical misogynist behavior.

An intelligent woman who forcefully stands up for her rights is labelled as "nasty". Simply since she had the gall not to immediately assume a submissive role to the investigator.

I'm sorry that your feelings were so hurt when this seemingly qualified woman used vulgar language in your presence. Grow a pair pal. Women can get angry and use foul words. You don't get to decide what others have to say.

DoctorWhat: What the hell is tree-spiking?

Put some bigass nails in trees. Some where the lumberjacks might want to cut, others at random points in the tree.

Put up signs saying that at least one tree in the forest had been spiked.

Lumberjacks don't like hitting random nails with a chainsaw. Sawmills don't like random nails possibly being in the wood.

Well it's anti-government in that it's to protect the environment, so that's bad to the GOP. However if it's anti-government in order to protect the profits of large businesses and the very wealthy, like the 1/6 Insurrection, then it's a-ok.
