Yes. You can still get Covid if you're vaccinated but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get vaccinated. Also you probably won't end up on a ventilator if you do get a breakthrough infection.

FTA: Rockett proceeded to go through his symptoms, ranging from everything from a dry mouth, to a runny nose, to chills and sweats through the night that left him "soaking wet." The drummer explained that he's been self-quarantining in his camper for several days and is now almost entirely symptom free.

So he got it by being exposed to his kid. He was part of the 5% vaccinated that can contract it and it looks like he had a pretty mild illness. So I would put that in the WIN column for the vaccines.

FTFA: "You're probably thinking to yourself, 'Vaccinated and you still got COVID. Do you feel like an idiot for getting vaccinated?,'" Rockett pondered out loud. "No. The reason I don't feel that way is because I know that this would be way worse, especially if it was the delta variant."

Well said, sir.

I am so farking impressed I think I might listen to one of these 'Poison' songs that the kids were listening to when they were kids

His symptoms were what I got from getting the vaccine in the first place. Lasted about 5 hours.   Fast forward 3 weeks, I was one of the 5% who got COVID and my symptoms were way less than my vaccine reaction.

So the cost of the vaccine to me was 5 hours of a fever and night sweats.  The benefit was my case of COVID was more mild than a cold.  So well worth it even though it didn't prevent infection.

Those are all against the original wild variant, I think? Slice10-40% off vs Delta depending on the vaccine.

95% EFFECTIVE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ONLY HAVE A 5% CHANCE OF GETTING COVID.

IT MEANS YOU ONLY HAVE A 5% CHANCE OF GETTING SICK ENOUGH TO BE HOSPITALIZED.

farking hell, people. It's like the flu shot. It means even if you get it, it won't be nearly as bad as if you didn't get the shot.

There have been multiple breakthrough infections (for instance that one in Vegas that impacted hospital workers)-but even if it is <95% against delta COVID consider that these cases have been mild, and vast majority of deaths/ICU stays are in those unvaccinated.

/vaccinated
//vaccinated and in isolation because I have Delta COVID (mild)
/// three slashes on this are better than the slash in my wrist where they would put my arterial line to measure my Blood pressure in the ICU.

No no no. They're okay with vaccines.

It's antidotes/remedies they're against. Which is why they've had a long running fued with The Prodigy.

I mean, the Delta variant is running rampant in my neck of the woods. Glad I got my vaccination. I've seem some fully vaxxed people contract it and get knocked on their ass for a few days. Can't imagine how bad that'd be without the vaccine.

With many people returning to life as normal, there are probably millions of  vaccinated people who are also infected with COVID.  That's kinda the point of getting the vaccine.

And their calls could be coming from INSIDE YOUR HOUSE.

No, you are wrong.

In the populations in the vaccine trials they are testing them often. That 95% figure is for subjects that have not caught it at all. The 5% caught it and a much smaller number were sick enough to seek medical treatment.

I really don't like Poison as a band but I know Rikki Rockett personally and he is just a really nice normal type guy who tries to maintain a balance.

I feel bad for him. He did the right thing and still got smacked.
It sounds like it could have been a whole lot worse.

I think there is confusion between testing positive for the virus and actually "catching covid." What I should have said is, it doesn't mean you won't test positive for the virus. It means you have a 95 percent likelihood of not becoming symptomatic.

Yep.

That's why I don't worry about it.  The odds of having a serious case or dying after having been vaccinated (in my case with Pfizer) are so vanishingly small that I literally don't worry about it at all.

I completely agree.

However my liberal friends are seeing spiking Covid19 quantities in the local sewers (up 50% since June) and they are like OMG - GOTTA WEAR MASKS AGAIN. Which is pissing me off too. We are vaccinated. Time to move on.

That was more intelligently expressed than I would have given anyone in that band credit for.

I just don't get the weird antipathy against masking. It's no more inconvenient than wearing a shirt and less inconvenient than having to carry a wallet.

We're not completely sure of that at this point. We assume so but there's still a chance that if you have a breakthrough symptomatic case you may be transmitting. Maybe. Probably not but maybe. Either way, it's such a minor inconvenience that I really don't get why folks view this as the equivalent of needing to staple their balls to their legs.

Because I am vaccinated. If I should wear a mask NOW then I would need to wear one for the rest of my FARKING LIFE because Covid19 is going to be with us forever. The CDC has already made it quite clear the the vaccinated don't need to wear a mask.

I'm fully vaccinated since May and just got diagnosed positive for COVID-19 yesterday. Shiat happens. Luckily, it's like a bad cold or moderate flu for me.

Can't smell or taste anything right now but the fever I had for a few days is now gone.

I shudder to think how it might have affected me without the jabs.

I know you are being obtuse, but wearing clothes has been the social construct in our culture for as long as it existed. Also, I wear a shirt because my wife says I have to. Even when mowing the lawn. I would like to say it is because she doesn't want to share her trophy husband, but that would be a lie.

Exactly. 4 people working in a hospital near me tested positive a couple of weeks ago. They were all vaccinated. I think they all had mild flu/cold symptoms for a few days, which I think we'll all agree is better than being intubated or dead.
