Sugar not-chicken.

I will bet $1000 that in a blind taste test subby would not be able to taste the difference between reg Panda Express orange chicken and Beyond Panda Express orange chicken.

Americans will eat anything that is battered, deep fried, and smothered with sweet sauce.

What in the absolute fark is subby's emotional defect in typing this headline and using the Sick tag?  If either are true indicators of your feelings you're unfit to live in an advanced technological civilization and I suggest you may prefer living under a rock.

Is it that gross to you?  Are you aware that they might sell picked pigs' feet and liver at your supermarket?  You might want to never shop there again.

/I like both those.

My version of that joke goes:

How do you get a redneck to suck your dick?

Deep fry it and dip it in ranch.

I love orange chicken, no matter what the infantile cartoon that spoonfeeds your opinions to you says.

I rarely (maybe once every 2-3 months)  eat 'fast food' but if I do, Panda Express is high up on my list of choices.

I actually kind of like some of the Beyond items. Like the tacos at Del Taco. They have a good flavor, and as long as you're not expecting it to have the same texture as ground beef, it's really good.

And fark Del Taco though for replacing the Avocado Beyond Taco with a Guacamole Beyond Taco. The fresh avocados were really good. Much better than the guacamole they're using instead now.

Look, even tofu is delicious when deep fried.

I need to try those beyond tacos again.  I tried them once and they tasted like... cleaning products?  Maybe I had a bad batch.

I'll take that bet. Fake chicken taste like mush.

I used to work with restaurant inspectors and the head inspector loved pandas.

/because he knew exactly how clean every restaurants kitchen was and really liked what he saw at pandas.

I used to regulate restaurants and once had a long talk with a Taco Del Mar rep who told me they did not need a grease trap because they were not cooking anything, just shipping food in and heating it up.

/I don't know what they do in your area but that kind of attitude does not sound like good eats.

Taco Del Mar != Del Taco.

Actually, the Beyond version of 'chicken' isn't bad. It's tender, it will take some browning and the texture is comparable, and while better than previous TVP versions, those versions weren't all that bad to begin with. Much like the TVP sausage products have been pretty good, pretty much since the get go. Hard to argue with that much salt and pepper and a bit of caraway and other spices.

The texture, especially fried, is comparable. With sauce and batter, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if someone didn't tell you.

Now then, the previous versions of TVP 'ham' are f*cking atrocious. Like crimes against humanity bad. And I hope that they'll stay away from things like corned beef or ham which rely on texture as much as flavor, which no amount of fiddling with plants is going to give you what you look for in deli products. That includes the TVP versions of 'turkey' which make Baby Jeebus cry. Just have a beet or cucumber sammich, and leave the deli stuff alone.

No, Subby. Your dick isn't going to grow to a whole manly three inches, and Trump isn't going to pay you on the head for virtue signaling.

My brother farking loves Panda Express. However, he turned me off it forever because I grew to despise the constant stink of stale, sugared, fried chicken in my house.  A week after he was unceremoniously moved out, the house still reeked of that crap because it was embedded in the walls, he ate it THAT much.

I spent another week putting out bowls of vinegar while trying to wipe walls enough to reduce the smell to put the house up for sale.

TVP is a crime against humanity and the FDA should ban it from animal, much less human consumption.

We had some friends over one time all of whom swore that vegans were crazy and that no one was going to take their meat away. I made a really rich beef lasagna. And I used vegan beef crumbles. And bechamel sauce. Everyone said it was the best lasagna they ever had and no one even noticed. Ditto on Taco nights. I'm not a vegan but I try and eat a lot less beef than I used to. And I'm not such a cupcake that I'm somehow intimidated by non beef products.

None of the sauces at Panda Express are vegetarian or vegan. If the orange sauce is the same then the Beyond Chicken will be sauced with chicken broth.
