Well, we know what the Big Lie is. Welcome to the myriad Little Lies.

Okay.  But the more clowns in the car, the less each individual clown gets.  And Californians learned a bit from the last recall.  Many who voted against recall didn't vote on the replacement because they thought it "looked bad".  Now, they know better.  Vote No on recall, and then vote Newsom for his replacement.  That would swamp whatever .00003% of the second vote GQP# 326758198-D-23541 gets.

Does Newsom appear on the list of replacement candidates?  Because that would be absolutely hilarious, if Newsom were recalled only to be replaced by himself.

Apparently Newsome will not be able to get the Democrat designation by his name due to not getting the right paperwork in on time.

Doesn't seem right though.  If anyone should have a D by their name, it should be Newsome.

Arnold won because Gray Davis mucked up the energy crisis and pissed off voters on all sides.  Also, Arnold was definitely a moderate, someone tolerable if suboptimal to Democrats.

When, exactly, has Gavin Newsom annoyed Democrats enough to vote to remove him?  The replacement list is crazyland, too.

This is correct.  So, we have a problem here.  Having the Republican vote diluted among many candidates is no good if there isn't a single major Democrat on the ballot to counter.  But the problem is no major Democrat wants to lend legitimacy to this farce by running.  So, in a low turn out election, we could get both yes to a recall and the craziest of the crazy as the new governor.

No.  I distinctly remember from the Gray Davis recall - Newsom is ineligible to appear on the list of candidates to replace Newsom should Newsom be recalled.

/moot point 'cuz there's no way Californians are stupid enough to remove him

One fatal flaw to your strategerie: the person being recalled can't appear on the ballot as a replacement.

The worry is the opposite; has Newsom done enough good stuff so Democrats will turn out to vote to keep him in office?  The only way the Republican win this thing is in an extremely low turnout election.

Meanwhile, Newsome forgot to list his party affiliation on the ballot (Democrat, in case you wondered), sued to get it put on there, and a court said, "Nuh-uh," so it'll be blank. The party affiliation was an addition Newsome signed into law a few months back to make recalling politicians more difficult. This nimrod is the guy we're supposed to want running the largest state in the country.

If Arnold wasn't on the ballot the Dems still would have won with Cruz Bustamante who came in second.

The recall rules in CA are crazy and need to be changed ASAP. That something like 2.5% of the population can force a recall is out of this world insane.

In Figure 2, California appears balanced between red and blue areas. But if we adjust the map so that places with more eligible residents take up more space, the blue places with large Democratic cities dominate the map, as shown in Figure 3. The interior may hold a majority of the state's territory, but it accounts for a small fraction of its voting population.

Several of my coworkers have done that. They sell their average house here, pay cash for a 3,500 sq fr house in Texas, all new furniture, a couple of new cars in the garage, etc. Most make it 2 or 3 years before moving back to California. One stuck it out for 4 years.

During an internal strategy session this week, recall proponents suggested that the high-profile candidates like reality TV show star Caitlyn Jenner and national talk show host Larry Elder could draw hundreds of thousands, perhaps even a million voters each, according to a person on the call who spoke on condition of anonymity.

I feel like they may be overestimating the appeal of Caitlyn Jenner and Larry Elder.
