And she's already gotten an attorney who is going to court for the right to represent here.

I've been an ACLU member and supporter for a long time and have watched them represent Nazis and a lot of other scumbags. Assuring that scumbags get representation is a pillar of our legal system and I've never been bothered when they represent these types.

That said, filing an amicus brief in support of a crazy woman who has hundreds of millions of dollars bugs the crap out of me ACLU.

Let's go fight voter suppression.

I see this as a huge fight on the behalf of the rights of the mentally ill that's been a long time coming, and I applaud them for it.

I hope this is finally critical mass enough of not directly materially involved parties, to sway to Judge to bust this scam...

Suggesting that the mentally ill might be less deserving of trustworthy legal counsel than Nazis sounds like something a Nazi would say.

Apparently, according to fairly recent court documents... her net worth is around $60m, or a little over what she makes in a year.  Somebody's milking that cash cow to the point of dehydration, and if the victim is mentally ill and being taken advantage of I'd say she's just as deserving of help.

The lawyer for the conservatorshop has made 6 million off her estate so far.  Someone in an earlier thread said that she made 140 million from her residence in Vegas.  Sounds definitely like the cash cow is being starved.

That's just her court appointed lawyer.
The lawyers arguing to keep her under conservatorship are also pulling half a million a year apiece.

Lot more hands are in the cookie jar than just Daddy Dearest.

That was total earned over a four year period, and I'm not so sure it was quite that high.
She deserves to make her case.

Meh.  It's just an amicus brief.  Can't imagine a lot of time or cash was expended.

They can do more than one thing, and an amicus brief requires pretty minimal resources.

Let's face it: the ACLU can use the publicity to draw attention to less, um, sexy causes.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Meh.  It's just an amicus brief.  Can't imagine a lot of time or cash was expended.

An old workplace got a grant just to do amicus briefs. For like two years.

It's, I dunno, 60 hours of lawyer work? Maybe 40? Depending on length? Then they begged a bunch of organizations to sign on to it, and those orgs asked whoever's in charge whether it was good enough to put their name on it. Then ACLU wrote a summary and put it online. Then they did the PR for it, otherwise it would not have shown up on our screens.

Multiple annual ACLU member subscriptions went into this. It's cheaper than a trial, but it's not cheap.

She's supposed to be in court today as part of her effort to get a new attorney. If the judge slaps her down, then it's safe to say the judge is being paid by the conservatorship scam.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to look at the judge's campaign donations anyway.

Working in all the social service based jobs I have- do you realize how hard it is to conserve someone? Let alone with all the weird stuff in her arrangement?

I've seen petitions for elderly demented people homeless on the street literally eating garbage not get conserved. "We can't take away their rights....Murica"

How bad off is Britney to merit all this. She is still employed, raising kids, and posting selfies like all of us.

This is what lawyers and money do when you combine them with abusers.
