Maybe he can revive his ol' Spanish Fly bit.

His manager is (allegedly) in talks with several clubs for a Cosby return. Which really supports the case they've been making over the past few years that Bill is too old and infirm to stay in jail.

Maybe he can get a nice residency gig at Mag-a-Lago.

Cosby did a set at a church in Gary, Indiana about a decade ago, around the time the claims against him were found to be credible but before he was convicted. Even if he can't find comedy clubs, there are probably enough non-traditional outlets that would host him that he could still find an audience.

So all that talk about him being "completely blind" and being in extremely poor health and how he needs round the clock care from his wife and care givers...I guess that was all bullshiat, huh?

Your legacy is dead. Please follow its example

It sounds like the club owner is getting ahead of the game here.

At this point, no A or even high level B room would touch the guy. He's going to be in 40 seat strip joints where the audience is more interested in the girls.

Cancel culture got this one right.

Although the comedy community can't exactly pat themselves on the back for this one; it would have been nice if something had been done about this guy back in the 80s when his reputation as a predator was already out there.

I see him playing in hardcore MAGA territory, in the same sorts of venues where Trump has had his Klan rallies.  Cosby seems to want to reinvent himself as a warrior against "cancel culture".  Never mind that he wasn't "cancelled", he was convicted in a court of law of raping women, and got out on the most technical of technicalities.

When Richard Pryor broke from the family-friendly, rather bland comedy that he did early in his career and became the Richard Pryor we think of now, he rather intentionally told himself to think about what Cosby would do in a bit -- and then do the opposite.

I'm assuming CPAC couldn't afford him (their budget was already grifted away before he was freed).

I would think his best shot would be to find some kind of corporate gig if he can.  No publicity, good pay (from what I hear), a more sympathetic audience...Hard to imagine, though, especially if it's going to be a publicly traded company.  Maybe some cadre of rich assholes who don't have to care what people think of them.  They've probably done worse things than him, but never had to suffer the publicity of doing them.

Whenever I hear something unlikely like "He's in talks with several clubs..", I just think, "somebody sent some letters or made some calls that he's now available", regardless of whether anybody's actually interested.  I'm a non-comic, non-entertainer, and with no reason for you to hire me, and I could do the same thing.  Nobody gonna hire me, either.

It's worth noting the club did allow Louis C.K. and Aziz Ansari on its stage in 2018 following their sexual misconduct scandals.

... is it "worth noting", though?

Because I personally find the accusations against at least CK super credible and fully believe he's some kind of sex pest, and I would still very much draw a thick, bold line between "credibly accused of creepy mid-grade sexual harassment that would most likely be a civil issue at most even if proven" and "actually convicted of violent, felony-level rape and sent to prison before his lawyer got him off on a technicality that amounted to an admission in itself".

This is like if I murdered seventeen people by knocking their skulls in with a bat and when a club wouldn't let me get a table after I got out of prison I was like "what, but you'll still let Derek Jeter in?"

fark off with this false equivalence bullshiat.  fark off with attempting to normalize/minimize farking sexual assault.  Just... fark off in general, TMZ.

// Jeter might be a dated reference, but in the context of the joke the joke version of me has just done ten to twenty years for multiple homicide and didn't have regular access to ESPN.

100%...if he wants a room, it's going to be "unconventional" at best.

And who was going to step up to do that?

In the 80s, getting a network sitcom was the dream of nearly every standup comedian. By the late 80s, Bill Cosby was the face of NBC. More popular and more valuable to the network than Johnny Carson, Ted Danson, Tom Selleck, Don Johnson, and Jerry Seinfeld combined. As such, he had the strength of the entire NBC legal department at his beck and call.

While it later emerged that Cosby's behavior was a worst kept secret in comedy circles, no comedian was going to try to go up against him and risk getting blackballed by a major network.
