Resident Muslim: Bslim: "62-year-old Timothy Depetro admitted to police he assaulted his wife who began bothering him after eating a grilled cheese sandwich and chips had fallen into a sink."

"Well, she shouldn't have mouthed-off like that"

/probably said something like that

Judging by the meal, I'm guessing he made it himself. Eating over the sink to not make a mess...and she still goes off on him for chips landing in the sink?
Yeah, I'd probably snap as well.

/and by snap I mean I'll just grab my coat and leave, and get me decent meal far away
//sounds like a depressing household
///and she should get away before things get worse. If he's strangling her and dunking her head in water, this is beyond salvageable and she should protect herself. Hopefully no kids in the picture.

I know what it smells like in there. Cigarette and stale beer.
Broken dreams on the floor everywhere.
Now they blame each other for the toxicity that permeates their entire lives

I don't agree. Men who beat women belong in prison. Or hell. Choose.

Yes, I see it is.  Relationships without violence are complicated enough.

I started to say that if I considered Farker's background, experience and opinions and restrained myself to conflict with none of them, I'd have nothing to say.  Then I realized that I really do have nothing to say but am compelled to say it anyway!

Correct.  People who abuse their power are sh*t.

But I'm speaking as someone who experienced something sh*tty.  I acknowledge it as a part of my life.  It exists in my history and I want to use the experience to inform my future.  And maybe help other people.

When I look back on it, I do get mad that people love his narcissistic ass so much.  They didn't know what he was capable of, and sometimes don't believe me when I tell them.

It is what it is. I'm not talking about him - that asshole is dead.  I'm talking about how I move forward.

I wonder if this story is the wife-beating man that everyone presumes it is or a narrative of a henpecked guy who finally snapped.

Either way, abusive relationships are shiat. Shouldn't have to get to 60 years old before you figure it out.

Not clicking a fox link, but in several states, outside cities, that would be the end of it.

rosekolodny: SansNeural: "Rose" should also have the experience of life enough to understand the dynamics of long-term partnerships and how "wants" and rational behavior often cross paths at weird and useless tangents.

Kinda, but I make a serious point to resist the "she was asking for it" narrative.

I heard it too many times when my dude was busting my face.  I've heard it a bunch from my friends who have gotten smacked around.  Take a minute to talk to women and it's horrifying how many of us have been in that position.

It's the narrative promoted by sh*tty partners who can't own their actions.  I'mnot a bad person - you *made* me behave this way.  There's this underlying theme of victims getting what they deserve, even in the jokes we tell.  One of the funny jokes is "I'd never hit a lady but I'll smack me a b*tch."   What do you tell a woman with two black eyes?  Nothing she hasn't heard twice before.

I like dark humor.  AND I'm still a little tender about all the times my face was broken by someone I was supposed to trust.  If I fought back, I would be hurting someone I loved.  If I left, his elderly mom would have died.

It's... complicated.

An abuser's trademark phrase is 'look what you made me do.'

Both of these dumbasses sound like horrible people to be around. The first clue is that if someone gets angry while drunk, that person is probably just repressing feelings of anger when sober, and it has likely chewed on their soul.

Most people I know are really hilarious, or at least super chill, when drunk because they've got no major underlying anger issues.

neeNHA: Depetro allegedly told police the disturbance all started when he asked his wife to go to church with him and for both of them to stop drinking.

"Come to church with me or I'll drown you in the tub."

It all depends on where you want to get baptized, I guess?
