Bought by Yum Brands who singlehandedly ruined both Pizza Hut and KFC (and arguably Taco Bell).  They get away with using cheapest ingredients drowned in salt for these other brands because they've always just been cheap food.  Au Bon Pain is more of a frou frou kind of brand.  No one's gonna want to pay 8 bucks for a shiatty tasting chipotle turkey avocado sandwich on cheap bread.

Not Yum, they were bought by a major Yum franchisee.

As far as ruining Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell, in my experience the biggest problems with those 3 is poor quality control of franchisees.  A bad KFC is a disgusting place, but a good KFC is pretty solid.

Have they ruined Habit Burger yet?

Ampex sounds like a magnetic tape company changed their business into restaurant franchising.

No.  Still good.  Still expensive

Not so much a frog from brand, at least in the past. It had decent sandwiches, bread, soups, and affordable prices. The Au Bon Pain in Harvard Square was huge and a nice place to just hang out for a bit.
