I never use superlatives and I almost never change my mind, but I am now thinking that Bill Barr is the greatest hero in American history!  He comes in ahead of Abe, Teddy Roosevelt, Reagan, and even edges out Jesus, though I would certain give JC the Mister Congeniality award.

Barr is just a super swell guy that I certainly hope does not get cancer of the anus, dying a slow, painful death.

Mitch is not just a coward, he's incredibly stupid. If he was going to Do anything to oppose that shiatbag, he should have done it on day 1 and been a leader. Instead he waited until after 2021 before deciding it was safe to object. But it was never going to be safe because of what a rotten narcissist orange boy is.

What this proves is McConnell understands politics because, well, he's a politician and is quite skilled at it. When it became clear Trump was done, he focused on Georgia like a good political leader should have done.

McConnell's relationship with Trump was transactional. He tolerated Trump's buffoonery to get the Republican agenda passed because that is what his job required him to do. When Trump was no longer of any use, he discarded him, much like Trump has done in his business life to others.

This is why the "Trump's not a politician" trope is so stupid. He was in over his head from the start and when he no longer had the support of the people, he ended up on the trash pile. Someone with actual political acumen would have seen that coming a long way away. Trump's problem is he was too busy looking the mirror at his own reflection and not seeing what was going on around him.

???
He backed Trump when it was advantageous for him to do so and criticized him when it was advantageous to do that.  Even as the minority leader he's still the most powerful man in the country.
He's an evil creature, but stupid he isn't.

I don't know, the tortoise is still in office, the hair is not. Seems more like a tie between the two right now. Both need each other politically but cannot stand each other personally.

I think the problem Trump has with McConnell (and McConnell with Trump) is while appearing totally different on the outside, deep inside they are the same person; and that has both men rattled. The only difference is McConnell has better control of his temperament. This is why McConnell is the only Republican who can ride the fence successfully, both opposing Trump while supporting him where it is politically advantageous for him to do so. Something Nikki Haley and Mike Pence try, but are not sociopathic enough to succeed at.

McConnell is one of the few who is not about appeasing Trump. Rather McConnell knows how to manipulate Trump through Trump's temperament, using Trump to get tax cuts and judges to further McConnell's version of the GOP agenda; while making Trump think McConnell is Trump's ally in passing the "Trump" agenda. That is why the tax cuts and the judges passed, while repealing Obamacare did not. Repealing Obamacare would be bad for Kentucky, and by proxy bad for McConnell. Sure McCain got the attention with his thumbs down, but it would never have gotten to that point if McConnell whipped his caucus in line behind repealing Obamacare.

Basically McConnell is the only person Trump has encountered which he cannot just use then throw under the bus when that usefulness is over, and Trump is the same to McConnell. McConnell is as solid with his base in Kentucky as Trump is with his nationally. Both men are just waiting for the time when they have the political capital to bury the other; and they are both aware of each other's intentions.

And remember, his temperament is his single greatest asset.
