Haven't read the article (welcome to fark)

Every large firm has a PR agency. If you listen to them and do what you want, you aren't a journalist, you're someone who sells access and likes parties

Amazon is literal garbage for most things I look for. Problem is they're the cheapest garbage compared to what other resellers are trying to hawk these days.

Mother Jones isn't journalism.

Who, what, when, where, why and how. Not 'we hate people who don't think like us, so we'll bias all of our 'reporting'.

It isn't just MJ. Doesn't make MJ right.

company's cutthroat corporate culture cripples critical coverage

That's some fine alliteration Lou.

So Amazon is behaving like any traditional member of the 1%.

Shocking?

Can you give us citation of the false content in the article?
Against charges of bias, truth is an airtight defense.

If a company won't provide access, a journalist has no obligation to parrot the company's position...

"While Amazon declined to comment prior to publication of this story, after publication they contacted [our news organization]. While their write-up was nearly as long as our story, they failed to challenge a single fact and we conclude Amazon agrees with the facts presented here."

"My apologies, but your employer Anazon has been determined to be acting in bad faith and we will not waste our time reconsidering what we have published."

Oh sure, try to autocorrect "faith" to "fate" but leave "Anazon" intact.

Amazon...

Engaging with Amazon's flacks is stupid.  If they write to a journalist demanding changes to an accurate story, the appropriate responses are "ignore" or "no."  Far too many people find themselves unable to say "no."  It's a good thing to know how to do.  And if you must engage, the proper response to a liar who is insulted at being called a liar is "if you don't want to be called a liar, stop telling lies."

Meh, I would have ignored the email from Amazon. If they're serious, they can contact legal.

/ not a journalist
