If I think of John Goodman with his big smile and birthday cake, it's not ethos, it's pathos. It makes me really happy.

69th birthday, but you can mark it zero, for old times' sake.

He seriously reminds me of a kick-ass all-American neighbor. I'd love to live next to someone like him.

John Goodman on one side.

Wilson from Home Improvement on the other.

Those cookouts would be the best.

Glad he started taking his health more seriously, because otherwise he probably wouldn't have made it this far. He improves everything he's in just by being in it, so hope he sticks around for another decade or longer.

The Talking Heads movie True Stories has a very odd narrative. However, it is worth watching just for John Goodman singing People Like Us. He was great in that movie, if a little panda-shaped.

I mean, True Stories doesn't have a narrative in any meaningful sense, but that's part of what makes it such a wonderful movie. It's a delight, every moment.

I learned about "spotted dick" from seeing him in King Ralph. For about a year or so at my elementary school, every meal became spotted dick.

Only a few moments of screen time in O Brother Where Art Thou? but he killed it, as usual.

It is a decent enough movie, no shame there.

King Ralph came out in 91. You were in elementary school then???? Why did I figure you to be some crochety old fark that yells at clouds and wears onions on his belt?

The Super Bowl parties last 48 hours. Because they stay up all night drinking and playing cards while slow smoking a turkey.

After seeing things no child should have to witness, 2-10-1 leaves an indelible mark upon your soul and makes you old before your time.
