Seriously, neither can I. What I'm hoping for is for it to go really into the galactic mob thing, Crimson Dawn, Black Sun, Pyke Syndicate all that shiat.

I think you're missing something by skipping The Mandalorian.  It's far from perfect, but if you take it as an old-style spaghetti western / drifter serial I think it's quite good and worth a watch.

I thought he was just a minor character with no real impact worshipped by neckbeards simply because his armour looked cool.

I wish my grandfather had lived long enough to see the Mandolorian. He loved westerns but never got the appeal of Star Wars, despite watching them all with me. Then we'd switch to Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies, or Bonanza and Rawhide.

Mandolorian feels like a love letter to all those westerns and Star Wars, and makes me feel a little closer to my grandfather today.

Thanks Dave.

One of the only places in the whole of Disney chefs can actually use hot spices in foods that are supposed to be hot and spicy, and not the typical US fast food "spice", which usually begins and ends with paprika.

/even the Epcot Indian booth basically serves bland Americanised curries.

I never read the expanded universe stories so I've never gotten the Boba Fett love.
In the OT he was kinda a biatch.
Clone Wars series showed many more Mandalorians that seemed much more competent.

I have my gripes with the show but it's easily the best of the Disney Star Wars fare by a wide margin.  As the OT had been a throwback to 30s serials, Mando is a throwback to episodic adventure dramas like Kung Fu and Gunsmoke.  It was a smart play, and I suspect the show is gonna age extremely well.

He has a pretty big role towards the end, helping to train Rey Jaina in some unconventional tactics to face down Ben Solo/Kylo Ren Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus because she knows she can't take him in a straight force power vs force power fight.

One of my very few pet peeves with Clone Wars is the retconning of Dengar. They turned him from an enhanced former Imperial assassin into some stupid Aussie redneck.

Boba Fett is the thing in pop culture I despise more than anything else. Why? Because he is a great, big nothing... and he is worshipped by fanboys and fangirls the world over. Why? He hasn't done anything to earn it. All he did in "Empire" is stand there and hold a gun... he didn't say anything, he didn't do anything. A friend once tried to say "well, he talked back to Vader" .... no, buddy, he didn't. He just asked what would happen if Han died since he wanted to be paid. That's not talking back, that's asking a legit question. Then in the next one, he's defeated in a comical way, accidently, by a blind guy... the so-called ultimate badass. He's not a character, he's a prop.

Yes, yes, I know the toy came out in 1978... "behold, a character from Star Wars 2" and so many people latched into it with their imaginations and built it up into something that does more than just stand there and hold a gun. But why hasn't that gone away when so much else has?

I remember the first time I learned his name very clearly. It certainly wasn't in any movie. A couple of friends and I were reading comics, and someone mentioned Boba Fett, I asked "who?" and the told me who he was and I laughed "they gave that thing a name?" and then I changed the subject and talked about the X-Men comic I was reading and how cool it was that they had this Holocaust survivor as the villain who was becoming the very thing he hated. It just seemed so cool. That's what I was doing when I learned that Boba Fett had a name. Then I went to my first comic convention and was shocked at how much Boba Fett stuff there was, t-shirts, toys, posters, comics, novels... what the hell was I missing?

It's like the Boba Fett TV show was designed to piss me off.

If you grew up on the original trilogy, he was cool because he was mysterious.

One of the things that makes ESB a great film is how much it hints at or suggests, around the main narrative, without always filling in all the blanks.  All the audience knew about Boba Fett when he was introduced was that Vader had hired him for a job.  Then his cunning was demonstrated as he stealth-tracked the Falcon.

80s kids latched onto all those small details with delight.  No internet then, no toxic fanboy culture.  Just legitimate childlike intrigue.  These days, everything is subject to approval or disapproval.

I always thought he was nothing but hype. For all the hemming and hawing about him, he missed every shot he ever took on screen and then got hip-checked into a planet's butthole.
