I'm sure everyone reading this thread will have seen Carrie Fisher's Wishful Drinking tv special but in the unlikely event you haven't it's a fantastic view on a night in, with or without a bottle of something.

It's less of an honor and more of a $50,000 fee.

How to get a star on the HWOF: pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce a lot of money.

There are more rules than just paying them the money?

You can get one any time when you're alive.  You have to wait five years after you die.

About time for James Hong, too. That guy's been in like every movie and TV show made in the last seventy years or so.

The only negative thing one could say about Mark Hamill is that he is a terrible actor.  Outside of that, he seems to be the nicest guy in the business.

You can see Carrie Fisher post-ROTJ in the Burbs, which is one of the great under-appreciated dark comedies of the 80's.

Comedy Central played it like five days a week there for awhile.

I don't think it's under appreciated, just 30+ years old.

Exactly... I think the concept of the Walk of Fame is cool, but anyone who is a celeb in some way can do it if they raise the dough.

I don't know if they're written rules or not, but "It has to be worth the money you're paying".  Like, a Hitler fan group couldn't buy a star because it's not worth the trouble.  Though somehow they're still replacing Trump's star every time it's vandalized, so presumably there's a fascist or two on the committee.

I farking LOVE that movie. I told my wife after we moved into this house at the outset of the pandemic that I was going to turn into Tom Hanks in that movie.

She was far from perfect, but she set the bar high for being a gottam real person.
