I'm sure retailers will lower the price instead of pocketing the difference.

Remember - these tariffs were driven by spite:
Trump was still holding a grudge because he'd lost his court battle to prevent a wind farm from being constructed off the coast from his golf course.

This only reminds me that I need to go get the husband some Laphroaig for his Father's Day gift.

That's timely. I just finished off the Ardbeg 10 year last night. Any farker recommendations on other scotch in that price range?

Ardbeg is massively peated. If you like that, go with its neighbors Lagavullin or Laphroaig.

Don't know if the tariff hikes apply to the Northern Irish as well but I'm past the halfway point on my single malt Bushmills.

I don't know where Bushmills stands among whisky/whiskey aficionados.  I like Irish and I've gravitated to Bushmills. I don't drink so much that I've actually conducted extensive comparative analysis.

It's basically $70/bottle here for the 12. It was $50 just a few years ago.

I'm off to pick up a Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban after work, which is (almost) as good and about $45.

The Single Cask 12 here went from $60 to $80 over the last year and a half.

Laphroaig is over $60 now, even Johnny Walker Black went up a little bit when the rest have. I got a 1L today for $55

I'll drink Powers and Jameson, but then I'm long resigned to being ok drinking shiate.
