I wouldn't read too much into that answer. Belichick is notoriously tight-lipped about private conversations.

For example, after receiving one of the worst beating his team had taken in the playoffs, at the hands of Rex Ryan's Jets no less, Belichick had some words with Ryan after the game. When asked about it, he refused to elaborate. Ryan on the other hand, was happy to divulge that Belichick had told him the was the best coached game he'd ever seen and that he hoped Ryan won the Super Bowl because he and his team deserved it.
