A friend and I made several types of wine from things other than grapes. The best was cranberry, as it tasted just like a store bought red. The dandelion wine was a nice, crisp white. The apricot dessert wine was a favorite among our friends. It's not a bad hobby!

Would Subby like some Vermont cheese to go with that w(h)ine?

Sure you could use fruit juice.

But then you could also use honey.

Vintning is boring, meads depending on what you use and add can be very interesting.

Hey raspberry wine vs sparkling black raspberry nectar.

Extra sharp Vermont cheddar is awesome. Perhaps the best cheese made in USA.

There's a winery just outside of Wichita that does some really nice elderberry wine.  It's extremely good. Their mead is also nice.  Actually, I really like most of their output, but I'm not really a wine snob, so...

/look up Wyldewood Cellars if you're curious
//they do a jalapeno wine as well, called Green Devil
///it mostly tastes like hot, but it's nice blended with other wines

Oh man, wine making uncle wine story time!

My uncle, who was a teetotaler for the majority of his life, suddenly decided to start making his own fruit wine a few years ago and the results have been...harrowing. Yet he continues this pursuit, despite the reactions of literally everyone who has tasted his offerings, like some sort of hooch-making robot created in a government lab. His son, a doctor, tried some and said "Dad, this smells like a raging kidney infection". The response was "It's OK if you put a little Splenda in it".

It gets worse from there

My mom has stories of her grandfather's dandelion wine that are similarly horrific

But at least he wasn't wasting blueberries
