So Trump can be a fawning fanboy to our enemies and that's ok but if Biden tilts his head in a way that could be perceived as respect it's an issue.

Embarrassing.

A REAL MAGA leader would have worked the shift, cupped the balls, and swallowed the gravy.

The New York Post is Fox News in (barely literate) prose.  They would have found fault in anything Biden did in this summit.

The only thing that makes the New York Post better than Fox News is that if I had a physical copy of the NY Post, I could wipe my ass with it if I'm out of toilet paper, or use it to pick up my dog's turds when we go for a walk, or I could wrap fish in it, perhaps.  I can't do that with Fox News, without having to clean my TV's screen and answer some embarrassing questions.

Part of Putin's legitimacy for his perpetual presidency is the angling of himself against outward foes. The less offensive, erratic, or threatening the US seems, the less political capital he has at home.

True, but you have to admit that historically, the head of state of a major power personally assassinating the head of state of another major power is pretty rare

Gin Buddy: Don't you just hate it when a President acts presidential instead of like an angry toddler?

Not so great when he acts "presidential" with a foreign leader that we have all been repeatedly assured is actively trying to subvert American democracy and destroy the state but hey, whatever, amirite?

I guess the President of the United States hasn't seen the "proof" that a bunch of random internet dolts have.

Apparently Biden later apologized and then Collins said no apology was necessary.  I think her question was, at best, poorly worded.  I don't think there's any reason to believe Biden sees Putin differently than any of the rest of us.  The rest of us being normal people who know Vlad is beyond redemption.

Plus, Biden had to be a little cranky. That time change is absolutely brutal.

Let me tell you what I love about this: Biden apologized, and the CNN reporter said it was totally unnecessary. It was like two grown adults acting like grown adults after mistakes were made.

What? Where? Where did that come from?

Unfortunately (damnit) I can easily imagine what the previous guy would have done.

If Biden actually has seen evidence that Russia is actively trying to subvert American democracy like we've been told by various pundits and so-called "reporters" he should not have met Putin in the first place.

Russia and North Korea is not same in terms of foreign relations. There is a reason we don't engage with North Korea and why Lord Cheeto doing so was a poorly planned exercise. It's because Kim uses those exposures as a way to generate internal propaganda and drive his tough guy stance to maintain control. When you can make the US President come to you, it means you have some sort of strength in a place where everyone is starving. Especially when Trumps stupid ass was saluting their generals.

Russia on the other hand not only doesn't have a starving population but it also has somewhat open access to the internet and external communications (even if their internal news is state controlled). Engaging with them directly allows for press conferences from external news sources where Putin isn't in control. It exposes him to several liabilities in terms of his control. It helps to generate information that can be used by his opponents which in spite of his best efforts has not been entirely crushed. It also gives the President a chance to tell him to go fark off personally which is always a benefit.

Sometimes it's entirely worth engaging with your enemies. In this instance the US has more to gain from direct engagement.

In fact that is exactly WHY he met with him.

Also I'm sure the FBI would love it if you called them up and said "You're all just a bunch of pundits and so-called reporters"

So what direction is the wind blowing today?  Is today a "Putin is the manliest, alphaiest male in the world who makes Joe Biden look weak" or is it a "Biden is coddling a dictator" kind of day?  Or both.  It probably shifts minute to minute.  I wish we could just ship our conservatives who love Pooty Poot so much off to Russia for good.  All of Russia's gay folks can come here and start new lives in exchange.
