Do you live in the universe?

Congrats, you're part of a closed system.  At some point in the distant future (assuming no Big Rip) the entire universe will be a uniform temperature and thus you will not be able to extract any energy out of it.

/Distant in this case is ~10^100 years for black holes to finish evaporating, but the 2nd Law will always get you in the end.
