Still a pet peeve; the tropics are between Capricorn and Cancer, if it didn't form below Havana, it isn't a tropical storm

That is demonstrably false. The name describes how the storm functions, which is driven by how it is energized and formed - not by the position of imaginary lines on the globe. It is called 'tropical' because the conditions for formation are strongly associated with - but not exclusively limited to - those lines.
