Even the local grocery stores here have changed to 'strongly advise masks', but don't require them if you've been vaccinated.

Of course the Missouri State government NEVER required masks, ever.

Meh.  Any adult who wants a vaccine can get one, and no one needs to go to Disneyland.

Tough to use the "honor system" when too many folks have proved they have no "honor" as of late.

It's the lady and the tiger here.

In general, I am confident that those of us who mask in close interior spaces are vaccinated and the republican looking people without masks? Zero chance they're vaccinated

At that point, wearing a mask is like wearing a condom after you've already gotten a vasectomy.

Children below 11 are still not eligible... Wonder how many COVID-kids are going to emerge from this.

My only concern. No one knows yet how long this vaccine is effective. Could be a few months. Could be a year. Could be a life time. That unknown is what holds me back from unmasking as liberally as is being done nationwide right now.

We bought a three day park hopper pass for July the moment they announced it was open to out-of-state guests because there's no better time.  Everyone is freshly vaccinated and as of now, the park is still only at 30% capacity (no lines!).  They MIGHT open it to 50% by then, but it will probably not fully open for at least a year.

There are factors like staffing, and distancing the rides.  You still have to go solo on the rides or every other row, if it is a longer car like on Pirates.

But yeah, being vaccinated, the only marker I'm really looking at is the park capacity.  My kids will be wearing Disney masks.

Your concern doesn't apply for a while. We're pretty sure it's effective right now.

Don't know about CA, but in FL most of what you just said is not true as of last week.

I can't get over the absolutely bizarre concept of an "honor system" for people who lied about having a medical exemption to mask-wearing. They even made themselves little cards with vaguely threatening legalese.

2021-06-15 9:33:14 AM
I work in customer service and got screamed at last week by a guy who was literally foaming at the mouth.

Not about the mask policy, not about Covid, about something completely unrelated.

But he was so angry and screaming so much that his mouth was foaming and spit was just flying everywhere.

THAT is why I still wear a mask even though I am vaccinated.

Another guy came into the office and was spitting on the floor. You know that 'I got something stuck in my teeth so I'm going to do those quick little spits to try to get it out?'
You know, like a peanut skin or something stuck between the teeth or stuck on your tongue so you spit, spit, spit?

But I work inside an office with a carpeted floor but this guy thought nothing of spitting at will.

THAT is why I still wear a mask even though I am vaccinated.

DeSantis World is a completely different planet.  It's impossible to get a straight answer about Disneyland's capacity.  They just lifted the mask requirements and they just lifted the distancing requirements too.  But nobody is saying anything about the park capacity.  Just because they CAN fully open doesn't mean they WILL.  They did say that the hotels officially have limited capacity and one of them is closed completely.  No word about park capacity increasing.

I subscribed to a youtube channel by a Disneyland fanatic and he seems to have a lot of inside scoops.  I'll be monitoring it through that guy for now.

I spent a day at Hollywood studios.  The falcon ride is cool, but skip being an engineer, it sucks.  I was shocked at how cool Rise of the Resistance was.  Didn't want to do it, might have been the coolest thing there.

Like, from the pre-ride holograms all the way through the end it is like 10-15 minutes of pure amazeballs.

There are few times that these things surprise me during the ride.  There was the first thing, then the other thing, and the fact that most of it was practical effects and not screens was super cool.

This is Disney. As soon as they can go full capacity, they'll start shoehorning 'em in. They need all the $$$ they can get right now, and the theme parks are their biggest revenue stream. Higher prices, less experience. The DisCult is eating it up.

Masks still stop flu, cold, and other such things. Some of us in who are out there dealing with people all the time see some great benefit in not getting sick, even if it's just the flu or something non-deadly.

And the CDC data is talking about the original version. The Delta variant IS resistant to the vaccine, and IS making people sick despite vaccination, and IS killing about 1% of those infected in countries where it has started to show up in large numbers. It also affects kids a lot more.

Yes, because there's no way a significant segment of their visitor's would be unable to receive a vaccination. You do realize Disney's target audience is children right?

I understand the argument that no one NEEDS to go to Disney, and even with a mask a place like Disneyland is probably going to have some risk associated with it.

Just tired of seeing people who should know better insinuating that just because the vaccines are out there and available that we can just ignore a glaring portion of the population that is unable to get a vaccination.

While I appreciate good reporting and am thankful for journalism, I've found the doombait about variants to be incredibly tiresome. I'm not even reading articles that mention a variant in the headline.

A lot of folks, like me, got the vaccine in January.

Until my cohort starts seeing a difference in hospitalizations from those who got it in may, you're fine. If you didn't get it early you'll know with months of warning when it stops being effective due to time.
