I hate this un-labeling, but for the inverse reason: I don't like the idea of racist school districts and states slipping racist holidays into the calendar and getting away with it because they're not saying what the holidays are. This makes "Indigenous People's Day" and "Robert E. Lee's Birthday" the same and I don't like that.

Have a feeling that Tom is only upset in the removal of all the Christian holiday names, those heathen Jewish ones can stay off (also, those Jewish students should be in school like all 'Good Christians' should be those non-Christian holidays). Next, Tommy Boy will go on a rampage against those New Jersey school districts that allow their students off for "evil Muslim holidays".

Yesterday they were pushing a new Seth Rich style conspiracy.  A reporter, last name "Sing", committed suicide.  He was the reporter who "broke" the story about Loretta Lynch meeting with Bill Clinton on the plane over 5 years ago.  The insulation being that the Clintons had the reporter killed.

To be fair to the school district, my school waayyy back didn't say "Christmas Break" or "Easter Break" on the calendar it just said "No School". Heck, they were more descriptive of the sports schedule than holidays.

Funny thing, my kid's school was the same way in the 1970's and 1980's. These weren't libby lib libbier than lib areas either, just standard Midwest small towns.

Doocy asked Tatem if he is worried that "these are the people in charge of your children's future, their education and here they are spending all this time and energy, not necessarily talking about what kids are going to learn in school, but about what's printed on a calendar."

CSB:
When my brother started Spanish class in middle school, he had a hard time remembering the days of the week (since they don't translate). His Spanish teacher, aware that my brother was already sorta-bilingual with Hebrew, asked: "well, how do you say 'Sunday' in Hebrew?"

"Yom rishon."

"And what", Mr Spanish asked in frustration, "does that mean?!"

"First day."

Giving kids a week off for Christmas is accepted unquestioningly. Teaching kids WHY they get a week off for Christmas (and why the whole damn country shuts down for a day or two) is Critical Race Theory, and it is forbidden knowledge.

The board voted to start listing holidays, including religious and national holidays such as Memorial Day and Thanksgiving, as "day off" on the school calendar after receiving backlash for renaming Columbus Day as Indigenous People's Day.

The lesson here is to never, ever try to accommodate right wing racists. They'll just cry about that too.

2021-06-14 3:15:42 PM
So in response to people getting mad then Columbus day was renamed, they just decided to stop listing names, seems like a fair compromise.  All the school and students should care about is if they are expected in or not.

Also if everyone who wrote comments screaming about the left on Fox news instantly died, would the world immediately be a better place?

Lee's birthday is January 19th, IDP is in October (formerly known as Columbus Day).  You mean MLK day?  Yeah that's racist.
Our district eliminated holidays for non-christian religions, which IMHO is discrimination.  And you bet the classrooms were full of Santa, red and green in December.  One of my kids got ticked off and told the others Santa was fake.  Lmao, the tears of their parents brought me much joy.

No.

If the derpers hate it here that much, they can farking leave. But I ain't giving up a single square millimeter of the United States. Drag it by the tailfeathers into the 20th century if I have to, beat the Austrian School to a mangled, bloody pulp if I can. Not a chance in hell. They can play like big, badass, not-covered-by-Geneva rebels ... if they have the stones for it.

I like this idea and to take it a step more:

Pick a random assortment of students on a random day and then ask them what is important about some random holiday.

Example:

On Oct 15th ask a student what happens on May 31st.  If they cannot state that is Memorial Day ,then the student gets to come to school that day to learn all about why everyone else isn't at school that day.

Would that satisfy the parents desire for their children to learn about such revered days?
