casual disregard: Stop killing people.

Why do we even need to say this? How has human evolution failed us so badly that 'don't terrorize and murder your fellow citizens' is something we need to say?

Are you kidding?  Finding an enemy is in our DNA.  Dehumanizing people is big business.  Us vs Them.  Some slob from Kentucky has made bank on that the past few years.

This death squad was, like so many in South America, funded by US tax dollars, supplied with US weapons, and quite likely trained by American military personnel.

"Stop killing people" is a message that did, and still does, fall on deaf ears within the incestuously closed ranks of the Washington foreign policy community.

Mlitary veterans' groups and some right-wing politicians continue to reject that history, however.

It's nice to see some things are universal.
