Aren't there only a handful of people that share the same wealth as half of Americans?

That doesn't sound like "a lot".

He speaks for nazis.

And surprisingly few of them are from West Virginia.

And the Senate, as a whole, vastly overrepresents those people.

This was designed so that less populous agrarian (read: slaveholding) states would have power on par with the higher population states so that those states couldn't push them around (read: end slavery).

Democrats are lucky they even have a Democratic senator representing West Virginia

Yeah but that fact sounds kinda like Critical Race Theory... and conservatives can't have that...

Remember the article says Americans not farkers.

Most Americans don't give shiates about politics. They're just trying to make it through life which is hard enough without having to deal with you SLFs.

Anyways.. happy Sunday.. please continue to rage on.

I think four things would improve politics in this country considerably:
1) Get rid of the Senate
2) Expand the House of Representatives; for every 150,000 people, your state gets one House seat.  And you get to round up. Right now, Wyoming would get four seats.
3) The House is now a parliamentary system.  No more of this two-party bullshiat.  President remains directly elected.
4) All voting districts must be drawn up by independent, non-political bodies.  No more gerrymandering.

Actually, politics is about their lives. It's not like a football game where you can safely ignore it. Unless most Americans' goal is to make just getting through life even more difficult.

Most US citizens don't vote.

And here we have an example of the fark disconnect thinking that ignoring politics makes life MORE difficult. Tell the American family with mortgages, debt, aging relatives, covid fears, children falling behind in school, etc that they need to be more political and see what side they fall on. Spolier.. its the, 'I don't give an fark outside of the D or R switch I throw every year' side.

I can stretch that out a bit...

Joe Manchin is only interested in the $174,000 he gets a year for only working less than half the hours the rest of Americans do.

It seems like the best way to suppress the vote is to give people a time limit to register for it.
If every citizen has a right to vote then why do both parties insist we have to register?

Because registering favors the older more conservative citizens who are more likely to have registered in the past and keep it going.

One of the most obvious revelations that came out of bernie's two runs, and something the democrats want every to pretend doesn't exist, is that people's opinions can change. And quickly. It can take a lot of work, or it can just take being frank and honest with people and proposing same solutions. Neither of those are things democrats want to do though, so they pretend the opinion polls are fixed in place forever and change their values to line up with the polls

Watching idiots suck their thumbs and burble inanities while imagining they come across as erudite and above-it-all is always hilarious on a Sunday morning. Any time you can get them to reference a book that everyone else read in high school is just an added bonus.

Drove through there for the first time ever last week. It was a bit on-the-nose that the first sign I saw after the "Welcome to West Virginia" sign was a billboard instructing people to get tested for black lung.

At least this one is actually in power with legislative pull.

By this time yesterday, we had like six Two Minute Hate threads against Trump and he isn't even in office.

If we don't reform voting in America, more and more people will lose their voice, even as they vastly outnumber those whose voices will be loudest. The We the People Act is vital to the survival of our democracy. Without those changes, it won't matter how many wish to be heard. Only those that are allowed.

oldernell: Most US citizens don't vote.

Yay, math! According to the Googles...

US population: 328.2 million

- US population under 18 and so therefore cannot vote: 74.2 million

Therefore total US population of voting age (and not trying to account for other things affecting eligibility to vote, so this would be the best, most optimistic number): 254 Million

Number of votes cast for president (and so presumably other offices on the various ballots) in the 2020 election (rounding to the nearest 0.1 million): Biden 81.3 million + Trump 74.2 million = 155.5 million

254 million - 155.5 million = 98.5 million.

98.5 million / 254 million = ~39%

39% of the voting age population, while definitely significant and really where Democrats should be trying to woo votes, rather than trying to be moderate in order to appeal to Republicans, is decidedly not not "most".

Well, then -- I guess most Americans are in favor of a minority-majority Republucan rule.

Because that's what's on its way to the USA.

When it comes to pass, and center-right Democrats are trying to figure out what happened, I hope they enjoy themselves.
