That looks like a covered litter box. Don't disturb anyone while they're having a satisfying shiat.

Calico showing off the catitude they are renowned for.

/I missed the little tuxedo cat being chased at the beginning until I read the article.

Follow up video of the bobcat doing unspeakable things to the two kitties is probably not going to be shown.

Who leaves cats outside on their own when there are those kinds of predators around?

This is one of the reasons that people who think bobcats and coyotes are eating their pets are farking annoying. It serves a lot of money interests to gin up fear about the animals people kill. Why no amount of science and simple observation helps dispel the falsehoods is kind of a testament to the power of advertising and repetition.

Sorry but you're wrong.  I actually really like the wildlife and find it annoying when people get all skittish about coyotes (which we have a lot of around here) or go after the smaller critters who might be hanging around their gardens.  So please don't confuse me with the folks who don't appreciate these creatures.  Bobcats are among my favorites.

So yes, coyotes will in fact go after a cat or a small dog.  Bobcats are less likely to do it but they will if they need to.  Look at the video again.  Do you think the bobcat was just looking for a couple of playmates?  No, that's not what he does.  And once the bobcat gets bigger it won't be as easy to handle.  It's irresponsible to leave a house cat in a situation where they either have to flee or fight off a much bigger adversary.

You may also want to consider rather incredible predator skill of the average house cat.  Domestic cats are the single biggest threat to birds and, while a lot of those cats are feral, house cats kill a ton of them too.  I think it's important for people to get their cats outdoors as much as they can but it's actually better to limit that in some way.

If they bag a few chipmunks though I'm not going to be too bothered by it.

Growing up in the mountains we had indoor/outdoor cats. We lost a few to the local wildlife because that is what happens when you live in an area with coyotes, bears, mountain lions, bobcats, eagles and owls (although I think the they were all more interested in our chickens). I'm not going to complain about wild animals doing what they do. If you don't keep your critters indoors that's the price you sometimes pay to live in a place like that.  I still can't convince my parents to keep the cat inside but all mine are inside only.
