Oh yes, because if I see someone downing a bottle of vinegar, my first thought will be, "that's a well adjusted individual, and the peak of social standing.  I hope to reach that level someday."/I don't care about your craft beer either.//I only care about mine.

And I'm playing the guy that blames his tools - looks like the latest version of Firefox on Android doesn't play nice with Fark comments.

Nobody has ever explained why apple cider vinegar, in particular, is the magical elixir, compared to vinegar from any other source.

And if apple cider vinegar is so special, why can't I just drink a glass of apple juice?

You can make say coleslaw or potato salad with white vinegar but apple cider is like difference between vodka and whiskey It just adds character Personally I'm on a malt vinegar kick and yes the period key still wont work on this keyboard

First question, I don't know.

Second... acetic acid is the active ingredient that upregulates PPAR, a protein pathway that allows fatty acids to get mobilized and be burned as fuel.  Acetic acid isn't in apple juice.

Posca was my first thought when seeing the headline

I'll stick with caffeinated citrus flavored beverage for my acid intake

Speaking of which... anyone else shop at Wegmans?   Mine hasn't had 2 liters of 'Mt.W' in months.  I've had to switch back to Mt.Dew

Well the two questions go together, duh.

So I'll drink a glass of apple juice and have an extra shot of balsamic in my salad dressing.

If apple cider vinegar is magic, and other vinegars aren't, then it isn't the acetic acid that is doing the work.  And I want the hippies who won't shut up about Bragg's to actually acknowledge the logical contradiction.

Actually, lots of folks in Asia drink black vinegar (or black vinegar drinks) for the health benefits. I used to keep two jars of Claussens in the fridge: one jar of just the leftover juice (for sipping), and one jar of regular pickles.

They also eat gall bladders to make peepee hard and have a snake bite cure that's a cucumber soaked in urine. Ineffable Oriental Medical Wisdom is no better than any other superstition

I've been known to take tiny sips of good balsamic, and that's absolutely as close as anyone should ever come to this.

I used apple cider vinegar to help treat heartburn. And it worked. It doesn't work for everyone though, depending on a lot of factors.

I put coffee aside, and I haven't had an issue with heartburn since quitting. Bananas used to be my nemesis, because I love them, but they kicked my acid reflux into overdrive. Now, not even an issue. Sometimes you have to the source of the problem and not just the symptoms.

Vinegar isn't magic. Matcha isn't magic. Porcini mushrooms aren't magic, but tasty nevertheless. Simple fixes usually require giving up the thing that causes you pain. Be that lactose. Be that coffee. Adding another thing to the mix to combat the 'bad effect' that something is raining down on you is just a stop-gap.
