Why are we still doing oil and gas leases when we know both those things are making the planet uninhabitable for us

It is basically to keep the roughnecks working until we can get them building water pipelines. I am serious- who could object to a pipe , that if it leaks, spills water ?

"No! We can't do that! Biden is supposed to uphold an ex president's policies no matter how unjust it may be." - Some centrist, probably

I was kinda hoping that Indigenous leadership at the DoI would mean they stop this bullshiat, but I gues someone in the Biden Admin put the brakes on that. :(

And our already proven supply, if completely consumed, is big enough to make the planet unlivable.

His fault for not installing it to code.  A pan that drains outside is required for a reason.

I lolled...and then I realized you're talking about people who can't imagine life without pipeline. So yeah. Maybe the piplines can do stuff like, when the MIssissippi floods, they pump the water into the Pacific Ocean.

Mostly lack of imagination. People have a hard time imagining change.

The fossil fuel industry is dying fast, but it's very hard to see.

" Become an energy citizen! " Anyone seen that idiotic campaign supporting the fossil fuel industry?

I am particularly disgusted watching them ape environmentalist advertising styles and words while they endlessly work to obliterate the environment at the lowest possible cost.

Makes my head spin seeing their ads on visio 1000x a day.  Fortunately I can usually tune it out completely.

My favorite and most nebulous line in the advert states enthusiastically, "WE'VE ALREADY MADE PROGRESS!"

It does an amazing job of making the problem seem like the solution if you are brain-dead.
