Mrs.Mel' just called me to tell me about this.

Of all the places to get shot, a grocery store is the last place I'd think of it happening.

Considering there was a child involved, I do wonder if it was a domestic issue (rather than, say, gang related*).

* Actually, I can't imagine it being gang related unless it was a gang of blue-hairs.

and

'The blood of innocents is the price we pay for the 2nd Amendment'

I think we got it all covered now. Close the thread.

Countdown to the guys who invade these topics to discuss (over and over) the recoil comparison and stopping power of various weapons of war, which every person apparently needs for "home defense and target shooting".

Hey is this the thread where we argue discuss the differences in calibers between an AR 15 and a regular 22? Or how clips or magazines or whatever can be bought in various sizes? Or that bullets per minute can be high with wood-stock guns?

Anything to make it seem like putting in place barriers to purchase guns is just too hard and we might as well give up.

It's too difficult to make laws on guns! Just accept that your kids will die because you don't know as much about guns as some internet wackjob.

There were 7 shootings on Sunday, what's so special about Publix?

There is no difference, both are .224 inches.

Red Shirt Blues: HotWingConspiracy: Red state crime is out of control, it's time to start denying them funding until they can clean their acts up.

Yeah.....come to Portland.

Since living in Portland, I've lost zero friends and acquaintances to murder.  In Florida, I lost four in the span of a few years.

Rachel Hoffman (Sweet gal)
Christopher Breeze (Nicest guy you ever met)
Sunday Blomberg (Good friend of my cousin)
Ralph Ameduri, Jr. (Awesome guy and great musician)

In 3 of those cases the murder weapon was a gun.  Florida is a violent shiathole.  And I'm saying that as someone who grew up in NYC in the 70s and 80s.

If you really want to cut down on the innocent victims stop pretending that anyone can stop thugs or lunatics from getting guns and teach them how to shoot. It shouldn't take a 30 round burst of spray and pray to hit the one you're trying to kill.

My thought as well.  A man, woman, and child, with one of them being the shooter?

Most people wouldn't even blink (and Fark wouldn't even notice) if this had happened in a home.  It's only the public place that makes it notable.  Double murder happens more often than mass shootings.

Remember that last theater 'mass shooting', where the guy had an axe, and no gun, and got stopped before he hurt anyone?
THAT was discussed here as a mass shooting.

America's rate of gun murders is so high because Americans are such bad shots, interesting perspective.

I don't know why it's even news anymore. It's so commonplace and there's absolutely no debate except over the degree of mass murder machines we should all be forcibly subjected to as part of living in this country. The nuts won, and this is the price we all pay for their "freedom" to mow the rest of us down as was so obviously not intended by that amendment they keep pointing to.

/And even if it were the intent, if it ain't right then it ain't right so strike that BS down. Our country isn't a suicide pact.
/Actually it demonstrably is a suicide pact.

Several definitions exclude the shooter in  any count of dead, so this is not a mass shooting unless he wounded several more people.

True. It was just another law-abiding gun owner exercising the only constitutional right he gave a shiat about.

I think the last mass shooting discussed here was the Texas Airforce Base yesterday where there was no gun, no shooter, and no evidence of anything more than loud sound.

Three of the cases were in Florida one in Georgia. Technically two of the murders were caused by guns, one by car, one by knife.

I left Florida for Oregon. Florida is not a murderous state. I've lived in Melbourne, Vero Beach and Tampa. Never once was I concerned about my safety. I grew up in the Philly area in the 70's and 80's and it was worse back then. I live in North Portland. It's the only place I lived where I felt compelled to buy an alarm system. It's the only place I lived where, from my window, I've seen the cops haul away two bodies from a shot up car, and where there have been multiple shooting within a ten minute walk from my house. Yeah, I got here in 2019 so I guess I missed the peaceful times.
