Well, they won't have Donald Trump to kick around anymore.

Trump has the highest approval ratings of any ex-president.  We're measuring how many people approve of him not being president anymore, right?

/Who knew that not picking fights and calling everyone else a loser would result in becoming more popular?

This.  Also, of the worst 3 Presidents in history according to Siena College, Trump had the highest approval rating. *

You jest, but you've just given some right wing opinion columnist a great idea for an op-Ed.

You mean having a petulant, angry, illiterate man-baby owned by Russian organized crime in charge of the USA's nuclear arsenal didn't make the world happy?

American exceptionalism means not caring what other countries think about you.

American realism means understanding the consequences of that.

Clearly it's because Trump was so strong and tough on those foreigners. Look at how much he fought China over them creating COVID by...doing something I'm sure.

You should read that article, actually.  He has an abnormally high proportion of "strongly disapprove" responses in opinion polls, but that's driven pretty much exclusively by Republican responses.  Democrats and independents have a pretty normal spread.

It's more a sign of how detached the Republican party has become from reality than anything else.

Let's see...
Two presidential elections in the last two decades where the popular vote winner lost the election.
A senate that gives 30% of Americans veto power over everyone else.
A high court packed with right-wing justices.
Congressional districts drawn so that a political party can pick their voters.
A criminal president with no accountability.

Yup, we're not the gold standard for representative democracy.

So, do you think those feelings are because of Trump or because of Biden?  Because Trump is the one who exposed the giant gaping flaws in our system, though really, those flaws were always there, just waiting to be exploited.

Trump should have been a wake up call for all of us.  He certainly was for the rest of the world.

That's because recent shenanigans have revealed to the world how explicitly anti-democratic the US system is.

It's not a good model of democracy.

Went back and finished the article as recommended. Came away with the following thoughts:

Since Regan / H.W. There have been easily identifiable justifications for the steady drop in 'opposite party dislike.'

Clinton - Scandal / NAFTA - small shift
G.W.Bush - Moron - much larger shift
B.O. - Black - large shift
Trump - Trump - bigliest shift
Biden - Big Lie - small positive shift

My impression is that Biden's numbers will continue to revert towards the mean, and the next President's numbers will be directly related to their own baggage.

Polling foreigners on their approval of the US President ==> Who cares?? It's not even like we're polling LEADERS of the countries - we're polling their people who have exactly zero influence over the US President and wouldn't be asked to work with him anyway

I remember Republicans being that way during Bush Jr's presidency too. Most people in other countries hate W.'s policy and think he's a dufus? Republicans: Wooohoooooo! Yeeeaaaahhhh! We love him even more! Fark you, foreigners! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

It really doesn't.  It means we're happy with what he's doing, especially with his handling of the pandemic.

Can you even make a post that isn't directed at attacking the Democrats through a BSAB lens?

If America existed in a world devoid of other countries then the opinion of America is the only one which matters. Unfortunately for America the rest of the world still exists and some of it are allies of America, others not so much. How your allies feel about you should be important on the international stage. How your enemies feel about you could be fairly important too.
America's behaviour affects the whole world. How the rest of the world reacts to it affects America. You probably don't notice that ofc, having your heads placed firmly up your own buttcheeks.
/Only kidding.
//You pulled your head out in January.
