I might be alone in this, but only two SNL cast members (ever) always grate on my nerves every single time: Will Forte and Chris Kattan.

The only Forte role I enjoyed was when he plays the dad in Sweet Tooth. I'll just leave it at that.

Last Man on Earth had promise, but ended up being unbearable.

MacGruber was good in short bits.  I don't think it would do well in a prolonged medium.  May it never get a movie.

/Yes, I saw it until I got tired of it.
//I refuse to recognize it.

Hmmmmm I can see Fishbourne and Elliot working, specially if they just play it straight. Rourke I'm not so sure about, he has always seemed too up-his-own-ass to be in comedy.

TEN SECONDS, MacGRUBER!!!

The material I've seen so far does not suggest there's anything good that can come from this, despite the cast.

They should do the MacGruber show like a Cloverfield/XFiles mash-up.  A mysterious creature that is only glimpsed once in a while, and most of the show is trying to figure out what he did to cause the mess they are trying to clean up.

I loved it. I don't know what it's going to take for people to admit that it was hilarious.

I thought the skits were reasonably entertaining the first time or 2.  Mildly, at best, and downright annoying after a few.  When I heard it got a movie, my first thought was, this is gonna bomb.  Then I heard it was R-rated.  I KNEW it was gonna bomb.  Not that I WANTED it to bomb, though I didn't care about it.  I just knew it would.  When it finally came on HBO, i eventually clicked over somewhere in the middle. Holy SHIAT.  I watched to the end, and made sure I found the rest I hadn't seen.  It's a dumb movie (obviously, as it's intended) but absolutely hilarious. So many jokes / funny scenes.  SO MANY.

I disagree with you about Will forte, but I do agree on The Last Man on Earth. It kept getting worse the more characters they added. I would have liked to see a show that was actually about THE LAST MAN ON EARTH. Imagine what a challenge that would be. Also, I harbor a fantasy of being the last person left alive on the planet. It would be awesome (for a while).

He can also legit act. This is great. Plus, Bruce Dern.

See, I love Will Forte in almost everything he does, but I always hated the MacGruber skits.

Also, I might be alone in this one, but I never understood why everyone thinks the Californians is so funny.

Magruber is great and better after every viewing.  You're all still in cubicals quoting Anchorman.  Losers.

Seriously.  This thread is full of haters.  Will Forte is one of the brightest stars SNL has had in decades:
