Much like Watchmen, what would a Season 2 even involve.

Some stories can just be told, and that's it.

It's Disney.  The Mouse will drain every red cent out of a property that it can.

But, yeah Wandavision had a hook and an arc that can't really be easily translated into another season.

Now, a Doctor Strange/Scarlet Witch movie...?

There won't be a second season but this does set up future movies.

I didn't realize The Flight Attendant was a show, and trying to figure out which character was a flight attendant in WandaVision.

WandaVision had too much story to tell for a single movie. It would've involved Ultron-levels of cramming. A mini-series makes sense and establishes where she and a few other characters are when Phase 4 gets underway. Same with F&WS and Loki.

Sounds like she'd be up for it but doesn't think Marvel is interested in going there.  I'm sure there's a pile of stories 10 feet high from comics just waiting to be adapted, but I really can't see where a TV series would go with the character after WandaVision.  She's basically a god now, and that's more 'summer blockbuster' territory than 'TV miniseries'.

I think Disney has only just begun to mine streaming content and its potential for developing multiple stories in the same fictional setting. Keep envisioning something like a dozen shows culminating in a four hour Ben Hurian epic. Infinity War was neat, but it barely scratched the idea of getting a George Perez piece on film.

Olsen was great, but Kathryn Hahn was the breakout star of WandaVision, imo.

Olsen was doing a drama, Hahn knew she was in a comic book story about immortal witches throwing spells around.

There never was going to be a second season.

Every second of every show and movie have been planned out for years in advance.

Another reason is they can't rely/demand audiences watch hours upon hours of TV shows to understand what's happening.

What they got with the current 3 series are essentially 2 movies setting up each of the main and periphery characters (WV was 5.5 hours and I think has the most episodes). For comparison, if they'd integrated Agents of SHIELD into the movies, people would be expected to have watched over 97 hours by the end. And that's just one series. They gave a nice shoutout to human Jarvis, thus saying "Yes, they were the same universe", but that was just a wink to those who watched Agent Carter.

The miniseries were a smart move to keep people interested in the next chapters, but it won't be continuous because they won't demand audiences watch hundreds of hours of peripheral material to understand the next movies.

While understandable, I think we've hashed this argument out before and agreed that if people can sit through 23 movies that are 2 hours long at least, they can also handle a few TV shows.  Will everybody watch every show?  No. But most people will catch their favorite character's TV shows and that'll be enough to keep them invested.

2021-06-10 2:58:50 PM
Doesn't need one.  It served its purpose as a plot device to show what happens to Wanda and Vision after Endgame, both transitioned into new personas and will probably be back in future MCU movies.

I don't know - after a certain point I think they may as well run with it and leave it to the audience to track down other parts of that character's story if they're interested. Like, if Moon Knight shows up in whatever new Avengers movie as a fresh recruit, I don't think audiences would feel the need for his full backstory beyond "vigilante, Batman-like guy" to get started. And then there's always the ever popular wiki pages.

Season 1 was really interesting and clever.

Except for the last half hour or so. I didn't care for two magic users swooping around a suburb, throwing balls of cgi loogies at one another, and crashing into structures and pavement. Jeezus.

Putting her back in a sit-com was absolute TV production genius.

Someone must have noticed she seems to use a wider acting range when she's on a sit-com, much more expression, then when she's playing it straight as the sullen Russian.

And (to trigger anyone) but she is actually prettier when she smiles more.

But no, there was no where else to go with WV. You know stories can have an ending. Not everything needs a sequel.

This is almost always true, it's just rude to try and get someone to smile if they're not 'feeling it' simply to please you aesthetically.

Yeah, I wish they had crafted a more subtle battle of wills between them and leave the smashing violence to the Visions too. Not that Wanda wasn't capable of that, it just didn't seem like Agatha was that kind of villain.

It was a self contained story that sets up stuff for the next phase in Marvel's franchises. She's done her part. Sort of like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. And I suspect it will be the same with the new Loki series.

They won't demand it, but they will assume everyone will have seen the peripheral material because only a statistically insignificant number of people will have not seen the peripheral material.

She's the younger sister and she's taller than the twins. People have been saying that mom & dad and TV producers did something to the twins to stunt their growth so they'd continue to be a cash cow for the adults behind them.

Either way, they used to disrespect Elizabeth, but now she's on top.

lol, yes, also Behind Blue Eyes.

I felt bad for Wanda and Vision (and the actors). WV spent too much time on gimmicks and not enough on story. They got shorthanded in the MCU movies, and shorthanded in their own show. WV came too soon after Legion to not get compared and found failing.

The obvious way to go for a second season of WandaVision is the home video era. She winds up in various MCU minimovies that go straight to home video, where the videos are being watched by other MCU characters trying to figure out what's going on. The potentially world ending danger she must overcome is that the heads of the vcr are getting dirtier and dirtier, which is making the tapes slowly degrade. Once the tapes can't be played then she and everyone in Homevideoland will be erased forever. I expect 10% of all proceeds for the idea, I'm looking at you Disney.

Maybe she can sign on to my project where Tig Notaro is digitally inserted into random movies as a non-critical character.

So basically you're watching The English Patientor Cobra and she shows up a few times, pretends to interact with the characters and that's it.

Not sure the third Olsen's role, maybe she plays a creepy doll like The Ring.
