Good.  Stop ruining seltzer.

That goes for you, too, Mandarin Orange!

I don't have a problem with the hard seltzers in theory, but I find it far more economical to get drunk by just buying plain seltzer, vodak, and a couple limes.

/In fact, forget the seltzer and limes...

This is also going to taste better, as it won't have that farking nasty chemical flavoring (or worse, corn syrup) they're using to make many of the seltzers.

Basically this.

I'm actually pretty fond of gin and seltzer (because the right gin actually makes it taste interesting,) but I have this involuntary aesthetic reaction to the idea of alcoholic seltzer in a can. Get a goddamn bottle of gin, a 2-liter of seltzer, and a piece of fruit.

Look, it was always "one bourbon, one scotch and one beer."  None of your fruity seltzers, or hard lemonades or ciders or whatever.  So when the bartenders asks you what you want...

I tried a few of them just to see what all the fuss was about.

In sum: I don't get it.

Wine coolers (remember them?) weren't ever good but at least they didn't taste like someone threw up a fruit salad into a chemical toilet.

Maybe but with only two members left working for the WWE, they are going to have to recruit a few new folks into their faction.

I think it's three things:

1) Low calories and low alcohol content (similar appeal as light beer)
2) Fruit flavors: young people don't seem to like the taste of beer and traditional spirits
3) Marketing: light beer is seen as a blue-collar drink; hard seltzer has positioned itself as the drink for YUPPIES

Good, fark 'em.  I highly doubt that they're using top-shelf seltzer flavorings.  Cheaper to grab a case of La Croix, Bubbly, or Polar flavored seltzer along with your Costco-sized bottle of vodka or neutral spirits.

Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka and the lemon flavored seltzer of choice (or just lemonade) 50:50 ratio. Amazing Florida summer day drink.

CSB relating to #2 - was grabbing lunch with a friend many moons ago.  The place had a good selection of microbrews, and the menu had a description of each.  We decided to grab a couple, and went to reach for our IDs (we were both on the early side of mid 20s).

The waitress said no need, the best way to tell if someone's actually underage is they immediately jump to the "fruity" sounding stuff where as we just ordered beer that was described as... Beer.
