In this, the audits are of a piece with larger Republican campaigns to disenfranchise huge numbers of voters - specifically Black voters.

A continuation of the Southern Strategy. The first half was to turn the Democratic Party into the party of minorities. Once the Democratic Party was associated with minorities, then words like socialist and shiat were added to further demonize Dems. Now, the GOP is tapping into that White grievance to disenfranchise traditional Democratic voters, and the GOP base is totally okay with this because they don't see Democratic voters as being "true Americans" anymore.

If the Democratic leadership doesn't get their heads out of their asses to see what's going on, there won't be a Democratic Party worth a damn for much longer.

Nobody is blaming Democrats for what Republicans are doing. No one is ignoring the evil of Republicans (except Democrats, of course). We all know who Republicans are and what they want.

We just want someone with political or legal power to stand up to what Republicans are doing. And if Democrats won't do it then Republicans will get what they want.

So the question for you is: why are you more upset about people wanting Democrats to fight back against Republicans' evil than you are about Democrats not fighting back against Republicans' evil?

Oh, no. It has nothing to do with your failure to call out Republicans and everything to do with your failure to direct the blame for Republicans' actions at the appropriate people, instead preferring to direct the blame at the people who are the targets of their attacks.

How many Republican officials have said, out loud, in public, and in front of cameras, that if everyone has access to voting it will mean Republicans will never win an election again?

Of course the only way they can win is to cheat and suppress the vote. Demographics are against them, they've continued to double down on only appealing to aggrieved, angry and uneducated white people instead of trying to broaden their base, they have no idea how to actually govern, and they have no solid policy positions beyond making sure the rich get richer and everyone else stays in their place.

Well, duh.

The problem is people are voting wrong in overwhelming numbers, and we can't have those people getting their candidates in. You'll see brown people in Congress. Black people in Congress. Yellow people too. And not tokens, but smart ones with their own agendas that aren't about grifting their base.

This cannot stand. Cheating is the only path if the voting public insists on voting Democratic. This isn't punitive, it's a lesson to get your minds right. Bad enough that there is all that Liberal white nonsense without giving the help a voice in government. I mean, think of the shareholder value.

WHY WON'T ANYONE THINK OF THE SHAREHOLDER VALUE?

The Democratic party is determined to act lawfully and ethically (at least overall, as a party) inside a system that unfairly grants overwhelming disproportional representation to a few rural, backwards, fascist white guys.

When I hear the griping about the Democratic party being spineless, what I am forced to translate it to is "why can't they be violently seditious like the Republicans so we can have it our way?". The electoral math and the regressive, broken constitution doesn't really permit much else anymore.

Frankly, I believe it will come to that soon. The "left" in the USA will eventually use their numbers, anger, and frankly way better education and intelligence, and wage the horrible, awful civil war that will rage not between states, but between neighborhoods and families. I intend to be long by then, but I'll be sure to send my sincere I-told-you-so if possible.

So you can wish for that conflict and misery, But this isn't about Democrats growing a spine.

It's just so obvious. They're creating new laws and inserting more observers to create more flimsy pretexts to question results and giving themselves the ability to adjudicate questionable results.

Best to stock up on tacos and abortions now. They're gonna be hard to come by in 2023.

Pointing fingers doesn't help. The GOP stopped feeling guilty long ago, and look at them now. Either you pressure the people who are in a position to use legal remedies, or you yourself make the system work for you, or you give up, or you work outside the system. You can't beat the GOP on their own turf, they have too much money and no scruples.

We've talked about Republicans being evil and lawless for decades. If talk alone was going to stop Republicans it would have done so long before now. So what's the point of only focusing on Republicans being bad and not talking at all about what can be done - and by whom - to stop Republicans?

What point is there in talking only about the problem - as it gets worse and worse and worse - without talking about solutions to the problem and the people we need to implement those solutions?

People are trying to avoid all out war. It's not an unworthy goal, because most Americans at this point are truly clueless. Like they could understand in theory the horrors of war, and imagine it if they took a minute, but they don't know it on a visceral level. People who do understand are trying desperately to put the brakes on.

But it looks like on a level it's a choice between thousands of people dying in the horrors of war, or people dying due to rising fascism and white supremacy. The only relatively bloodless way I see to fight it is a general strike, but we don't have the healthcare or housing for a sustained campaign.

/curses the people who decided American healthcare had to be tied to our jobs

Don't buy into his bad faith arguments that people are blaming Democrats for what Republicans do. Nobody does that. Blaming Democrats for not fighting back is very different from blaming Democrats for Republicans' actions, although qorky here refuses to tell the difference so he can attack the left.
