Ugh, that creep.

Wikipedia: Tierney was questioned by New York City police in connection with the apparent suicide of a 24-year-old woman who had jumped from the window of her high-rise apartment. Tierney told police "I had just gotten there, and she just went out the window." He never was arrested or charged with the young woman's death.

Yeah, I knew that the name sounded familiar.

Reading his history, I'm actually surprised he didn't scare the hell out of most of the cast.

He was just the hugest douchebag in Hollywood, with zero social skills. He would show up at other actors' houses and just crash there uninvited while filming took place. Nobody would call him on his shiat because he was terrifying. The stories I've heard are crazy.

From IMDB: "Alton Benes, played by Lawrence Tierney, was originally going to be a recurring character like Jerry's and George's parents. But Tierney's notorious volatility terrified the cast and crew and they did not want him back. According to the producers, Tierney took a knife from the set and hid it under his jacket. When Jerry Seinfeld asked him about it, Tierney pulled the knife and proceeded to imitate the famous shower scene and score from Psycho."

Why would anyone do that?

At least John Belushi had the decency to be stoned when he did that.

Yeah....the guy had some serious issues, to say the least.

Wait, Tarantino said he fired him in the first week but somehow he was in the whole movie?  I guess all his parts were done in the first week?

Reservoir Dogs was a million dollar indie flick, set mostly in one place, where the cast worked for next to nothing.
If he got more than a month to shoot the entire movie, I'd be surprised. Actors will take pay cuts for movies they're passionate about, but don't want shooting to get in the way of their paying gigs.

Hell, the first Saw movie was shot in less than 3 weeks.

When it is not related to the subject at hand and the Weenersator feels compelled to illuminate everybody with rumors everybody has already heard, absolutely it is.

Yeah, in this interview Tarantino says they filmed all the scenes Tierney was in first to get him out of there as quickly as possible:

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2010/jan/12/quentin-tarantino-bafta

The "I need you to be cool.  Are you cool?" exchange between Mr. White and Mr. Pink was inspired by Tarantino saying that exact thing to Tierney when he was throwing one of his tantrums.
