Ambivalence: As one does.

It's not a common thing, but I've heard of people being cremated and some of the ashes being put into lockets for their close friends and family.

Yeah, it's not that weird.

OMG_ItAteEveryThing: Yeah, it's not that weird.

I think it's weird for us because we don't hear Kevin Nealon & Garry Shandling's names everyday anymore.

But the two were comedians who did the stand-up circuit around the same time. It wouldn't be a massive surprise if they were good friends. I can see how, in certain situations, Nealon might want to have the spirit of Shandling, as it were, with him, and there were probably only so many easy ways to make it happen.

Not as odd as it probably seems at first glance.

More common than you might think. My wife has a cross funeary necklace with some of her mom's ashes. There were hundreds of funeary jewelry designs when she chose the one she did.

Also bigger in Victorian days.  Mourning jewelry was  a thing, often with locks of hair of the deceased, artfully arranged.

Nealon was my favorite Weekend Update anchor. Chase second. Miller was well-suited for his own style, but it was more riffing on the news than sending up newscasting. Most of the anchors since have lost the art of somewhat mocking newscasting in addition to making jokes about the news. But Nealon had the natural news reporter persona and dry wit that works best for the role.

Never really cared for anything else he did, but loved him on Update.

Yeah, you also have to make a deal with a crossroads demon for someone like that to get with 1990s Angelina Jolie.

It is the phylactery that held the demon's soul after losing a bet that going full r-word in Slingblade wouldn't be a good career move.

Every funeral home these days will sell you some of that.  When my dad died one of the things they offered up was to bake some ashes into a mold of one of his fingerprints and make a locket out of it.

Two of my sisters bought them.

See, that's what I wanted to have done when I go. Little charms with some ashes inside - preferably worn as necklaces.

Thing is, all my friends are going before me & I'm not making any new ones. Eh, I'll probably end up in a pauper's grave anyways.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn't really care for Macdonald. He just struck me as just a wiseass. Very 90s in that he seemed like just didn't give a crap about anything and was bitter for no good reason. He definitely didn't come off as a news anchor.

Colin Quinn wasn't believable as an anchor, either. No self-respecting news broadcast would use someone who sounded like him.

I will always have a pretty big crush on Tina Fey (who doesn't?) but Fallon's giggliness ruined Update for me. That's when I kind of just tuned out SNL altogether.

I like Seth Myers in his current format, so maybe I should go back and Peacock some of his updates, as I bet, in retrospect, he did pretty well.

One thing I've come to believe is that SNL is the perfect kind of show for adolescents who are just starting to understand abstract thinking, sarcasm, satire and the world around them. I think most people find SNL funniest between the ages of 10 and 18. After that, I think most people just talk about how it good it used to be, referring to when they were that age.

Even if he was dead, should take the sandwich.  Might be a good sandwich.  Might not be a good sandwich, but why not go with the sandwich?  What do you have to lose?

If you can, see his time on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5271160/

It's really a sweet and moving tribute.
