One of the best decisions I ever made.

SpectroGirl had to go off the pill. Condoms suck floppy donkey balls. SNIP!

Because I already did? In fact, it's the primary reason I'm not a father.

I figured it was healthier for the Mrs. to not have to pump herself full of hormones unnecessarily so I got it done after our second.   Pretty easy process.

Anesthic didn't work on one side, despite four attempts. That experience was some Civil War bullshiat

There should be a vasectomy club, because yeah - great decision by me there. I feel like I'll survive to 60-70 at which point the world would have become so shiatty even the young and healthy would welcome death.

I was questioned about my decision to get snipped. "But don't you want a son?"

If I kept trying for a son I'd likely end up with half a dozen weddings to pay for.

My kids are both very close in age (Irish twins both by heritage and by time between births)

I basically said "give me the knife and a bag of frozen peas, I'll do it myself"

//CSB - another family at our kids' swim meet last week tried to get the snip for the dad. But due to COVID they were unable to schedule a <cough...bs> "non-urgent surgery"   Guess who just had another one at age 43?  Felt sorry for the dude, but hell of a cute baby.

Correct.

No form of birth control is 100% effective.

there's always a chance....

Best $10 I ever spent. Should have done it years before I did, I think I was 30ish. Talk about peace of mind, especially for a man-whore bartender like I was. I mean, I'm still a man whore, but I don't tend bar.

I'm still waiting for Reversible inhibition of sperm under guidance, probably never going to have kids, but I'm not ready for something so permanent.

I really wish there were more options for men. The GF has gone from wanting hormone based contraceptives to not. She plans to get the non-hormone IUD version when she has to replace her existing one (in about 3 years).

2021-06-09 2:58:10 PM
I suggested it. Wife asked just who else I had plans to sleep with (she's pretty much infertile without a lot of medical help). Dropped it like a hot potato - there isn't really an answer to that question that could go over well.

Same calculus here.

I would add the female surgery is MUCH more invasive so it was my responsibility.

My wife had an ovary ablation  not too long ago. I don't know exactly what that is but when she came home from the procedure she said that her factory was closed for repairs.

"we can throw out that box of condoms now" she said.

It was both a sad time and a happy time...

Vasectomies don't work. I got one 10 years ago and I have five children. Coincidentally, every time my wife goes on her summer sabbatical with her tennis teacher she seems to come up pregnant. I haven't figured it out yet, but I'm starting to see a pattern.

CptnSpldng: I was questioned about my decision to get snipped. "But don't you want a son?"

My doc tried the same BS. Tried to counsel me about "But you are young" etc. etc etc. (Now I know a little more about what women go through with some doctors!).

I finally looked him straight in the eye and asked "Do I need to find someone else to perform the procedure?" and he relented.

My doctor insisted on before and after sperm counts to prove it worked.

Is he SURE it is his?  'Cuz if he didn't do a paternity test.....

PROTIP: Keep the condoms on hand anyhow. Urinary tract infections and yeast infections can still be passed back & forth.

My four children are all planned, welcomed and loved, but I'm done now and got snipped after last one.  Best decision ever.
