Subbs that is a sweet trailer. I use VR now these days because it give full screen immersive viewing and ultra easy to carry around easily.

But the gameplay is decent and man this would be a stomping port for VR.

//random babbling now on
o and I say O baby fark really needs a raw post gaming tab so others can easily share what they like. It is a damn strong market for decent games and I hate wasting money on endless bugs (calling out Star Citizen) that has been launching since I was almost a kid.

Now heading  back to the vid it is great even in 2d.

Finally! A new BF that's not set 80-100 years ago!

Been wanting a return to the future for this franchise.

Heh.  I love how they threw in the jump-from-plan-rocket-the-other-plane move.  They should have done grenade spamming.

I wonder what the system reqs are going to be (didn't look).  And is there a campaign mode?

The twitter link is interesting in it self I recommend reading if you a gamer  and has other extracts from scenes.
I would not put another post but it may help folks that read this thread so check out the entire twit feed.

It is shear torture that you can not get ANY high end GPU/Video boards now until whenevers... I will play this game in maybe 5 years if I get lucky with a frag´n mining scalper.

/In other news there is a crypto that does not use GPU! no really it uses massive amounts of raw storage. Just great now  both GPU´s and hard drives  becoming becoming really rare.

I'll accept the future setting but don't you dare criticize setting in in WW1 and WW2. After COD4, everyone went the "Generic Modern Era" route and it became stale. I welcomed the (re)entry into the pasta.

At least here, it won't be that same boring generic modern setting where [Bad Generic Country] is the villain but it turns out it was really Russia (or China)!

/Wish they would have moved into the Cold War era with Korea, Vietnam, and other conflicts people might not know about

Another EA game that will be worthless for online play unless you shell out the $$$ for the latest DLC package every 6 weeks.

It's farking nuts and I'm wondering if and when it will end.  If not, I see it really hurting the gaming industry.  I thought, *two* years ago, that they were cranking out cheap chips designed for crypto which would reduce the pressure on gaming cards but no.  I don't even know if you can find a RTX 30xx card right now...much less, spend the $1K-$2K+ to buy it.  It is insane.

The 2070 in my son's computer can pull ray tracing just fine but that card, which I paid around $700 for, is now $1000 more.  Nuts.  It's crazy seeing older cards priced *more* than newer cards (if they're available).

And 100 years later, Star Citizen appears....

Despite the last few iterations, I typically enjoy Battlefield as a series. I look forward to seeing how this one plays out. If it's like 2/3/2142, I will be all over that shiat

Damn right. Even though BF1 wasn't remotely realistic, it was still enjoyable as hell, and if it gets more folks into studying WW1/WW2 or even brings about a new era in WW1 based games, I'll be thrilled.

/Verdun is a great game. The eastern front sequel is alright but no one plays it
//Really good excited for the next sequel that focuses on the Southern Front (Italy/Austria/Germany)

It's all cyclical. The past 6 years we saw WWI (BF), WWII (BF/CoD), Vietnam (BF), Cold War (CoD). The 7 years before that was "modern warfare". And 6 years before that (i.e. before CoD4), it was games set in the past, i.e. WWII.

Out of 30+ games between CoD & BF, only 4 that I can see (including this new one) actually take place somewhat in the future, so I'm much more excited for this than the past few.

That trailer was absolutely RIDICULOUS.  That didn't make it any less fun to watch or the game less potentially fun as hell to play, but wow, was that a whole lot of enjoyable nonsense.

Too bad that this game, like all the other multiplayer shooters, will likely end up being polluted with rampant cheating (that the publisher and devs will do fark-all about), sweaty try-hards, and shockingly foul-mouthed 12-year-olds taking a break from calling everyone the N-word in Fortnite.

exactly what is revealed in that vid besides they plan another BF game and the setting is near future?

planed and rendered movie scene vs. from POV in real time game play footage.

We know noting more than we already did, expect they apparently didn't feel ok about showing us some play footage.

Agreed.  I just want a decent WWII shooter that doesn't try to rewrite or censor history or embellish it with weapons, equipment or scenarios that don't fit the period or events, doesn't shoehorn in some stupid "Zombies" mode or some other such nonsense, or isn't monetized to the gills and played only by sweaty try-hards (who think real strategy is jumping all the time like they're in a farking bounce-house or quick-scoping because every WWII sniper did that, right?) or people who have to cheat to feel better about themselves.

It shows a return to modern warfare, storms combined with 'level-ution concepts from BF4', wing suits (!!), probably a royale mode, and fun. It looks fun. I can't wait for the gameplay premiere.

Guys. It's really simple. Turn off the in game chat. Most games now allow muting for everyone besides your party or your friends.

I play Warzone and never turn on the game chat, I use XBL with my buddies (through PC's Game Bar).

I feel this so hard, but I'm much more of a modern-era guy.  Modern Warfare 2019 felt so good with its' gunplay; it's a goddamn shame that the gameplay eventually devolved into the same kind of rancid horsesh*t that drove me away from CoD multiplayer for 10 years.

I liked COD 4 and World at War but I got really turned off by it with Modern Warfare 2 (though I did like the story). Black ops 1 had fun multiplayer but I really never got into COD again.

I hate when people take it so damn seriously too. I remember someone losing their shiat right when Overwatch came out because there were two of the same class in the team. Never played it again.

I keep bouncing back to Halo with the MCC and I'll still play some Wolfenstein Enemy Territory for my main fps'. I just hope that BF1 doesn't die

That has indeed taken the fun out of some of those games for sure.  Wayyyy, back when, I was a pretty skilled sniper in BF1942 and BF2.  I don't remember quick-scoping being a heavily used thing (or used to any advantage until CoDMW.  By the time BF-BC2 came out, it was heavily used but not a huge issue from what I recall.

It was MW2 that I really gave up on sniping.  I don't like the quick scope thing and only briefly tried it to find out what it was all about.  But quick-scoping was goddamn everywhere in MW2 and on.

I have BF1 loaded but haven't done multiplayer.  I only ever go into TF2 for FPS now and not that long.  But I may try this when it releases...and I have the specs.

I believe we had this discussion last week, the UI/menus haven't largely changed, and the controls for PC are extremely tight. DICE develops for PC first, and consoles second, always has. Where ever you got this concept, I don't know. There isn't a version of BF I haven't played. I have more hours in the modern titles than I did in the old because the modern titles were better. From gun play to mechanics and modes, not to mention graphic fidelity.

I have about 1200 hours played with BF4, Hardline, 1 and V. Do you even own it?

That always was one of the awesome thing.  If you are getting your ass handed to you because your twitch is bad or aiming sucks or your general FPS skills have waned with age or whatever, you can still play "sneaky" and solo take flags and steal vehicles and such.

I would love it when someone would just plant explosives and lay in a field nearby...like for half the game - waiting for someone to come along.  My ass would get unexpectedly blown to hell with no enemies around and I would laugh and throw a good comment at the person.

And going solo on a huge map - I used to love running into someone doing the same thing.  It devolves into a trade-kill for the entire game, just between the two of you, while everyone else is off doing something else.

My main goal when I play Battlefield is to blow up every vehicle I can, that's kind of why I liked Hardline.

I can't wait to see the giant 128 player maps.

I'm calling this Battlefield: Just Cause. Where every soldier is Rico Rodriguez doing stunts in mid-air. Give us the grappling hook and jet pack options too and I might check it out when I get a better gaming rig.

A lot of Hollywood stunts shiat in trailer. Not saying it doesn't happen in game because I've done my fair share of that since BF 1942 on the way back machine, but it can't be the sole selling point. Seems like Battlefield 2, 2142 and even BF3 and Bad Company 2 had more gameplay details in their trailers.

I'm also wondering who the sides are. Battlefield was among the last games I remember CHINA being a combatant, then it was Russia, Russia, Russia.

/Also, Battlefield 2142 remake/sequel or 1950s Korean War, please.
//I miss being Field Commander on the team a la BF2/2142, but don't miss that one person who doesn't get a supply drop immediately ... "vote to kick"
///Can we have a Just Cause reboot/sequel? JC4 wasn't awful as some made it to be, but it could have been better, and Rico Rodriguez was an interesting protagonist when he wasn't whitewashed in JC3.

Oh, there's a thing I truly hate about Call of Duty.  It's poisoned the industry with this idea that movement is dictated by how long a rail of cocaine you did prior to picking up a controller, and anything slower is "camping".

MW2 really soiled a bunch of people with its release.  I was pre-release day one and everyone started biatching within the hour.  The *very* first game saw people biatching.  The forums were lit up like crazy that first week, mostly complaining about the host switcing.  Then it was the rampant cheats from hell that seemed almost instant.  Legit games became less common than cheater games - it was amazing to see everyone call out (or experience) the cheater within the first 10 seconds as indicated by a SCAR aim-botter or an airstrike and then drop.  Then there were the knife lungers and akimbo shotguns.  Man that was a rocky start.

And oh, the knife-lungers.  They only ever had one move which was to slink along building perimeters.  I would get in spot where I could see them coming and then blow the hell out of them at close range with the shotgun.  I would be *just* close enough to avoid the lunge and I got really good at it.  Someone would call "fast knifer" or "lunger" and I would loadout my anti-knife-lunger kit and go on the hunt.  It's all I did until they left or switched loadouts (they usually left without a word).  It took them forever to fix that - they finally trimmed the lunge distance.

/The hacked "servers" of never-ending games that you could fall into were fun as well.

Because I had an elbow injury years back, I haven't played FPS in a while. Bad Company 2 might have been my last Battlefield if memory serves.

Stealth shotgun gameplay still possible, or is it just kids running around with a sniper rifle at their hip that handles like a automatic pistol as when I watched my nephews play CoD games?

I was the bastard that hid in corners with a shotgun or knives and ambushed the fark out of people or snuck up on snipers, and I got quite a few "led team in kills" for the round awards in FPS games with that strategy. AND LOTS OF ANGRY COMMENTS. Though not as many as in BF3, using a teammate with a laser finder and the Javelin rocket launcher to keep helicopter junkies permanently grounded, followed by noobs complaining why their chopper's flares didn't work against a laser-guided missile.

I actually just started playing Battlefield 4 again a few days ago, so I'm not really sure.  I'm sort of torn, because Modern Warfare's gunplay felt so good* (quickscoping bullsh*t aside) compared to Battlefield.  But the childish games that infest CoD can't be done in Battlefield, so there's that.

/* = Yeah, I know.  One game is six years older than the other.  Sue me.

phimuskapsi: fragMasterFlash: Another EA game that will be worthless for online play unless you shell out the $$$ for the latest DLC package every 6 weeks.

BF hasn't had paid DLC since BF4, and the reason you mention is the reason why.

PvtStash: 'Battlefield 2042 Reveal Trailer "

exactly what is revealed in that vid besides they plan another BF game and the setting is near future?

planed and rendered movie scene vs. from POV in real time game play footage.

We know noting more than we already did, expect they apparently didn't feel ok about showing us some play footage.

It shows a return to modern warfare, storms combined with 'level-ution concepts from BF4', wing suits (!!), probably a royale mode, and fun. It looks fun. I can't wait for the gameplay premiere.

BF1 had DLC.

Practical_Draconian: A lot of Hollywood stunts shiat in trailer. Not saying it doesn't happen in game because I've done my fair share of that since BF 1942 on the way back machine, but it can't be the sole selling point. Seems like Battlefield 2, 2142 and even BF3 and Bad Company 2 had more gameplay details in their trailers.

Gameplay trailer in 4 days, this was a teaser.

The shotgun was so good in BF1 that people wanted it to be nerfed.

UberDave: AgtSmithReloaded: Aar1012: scottydoesntknow: Finally! A new BF that's not set 80-100 years ago!

Been wanting a return to the future for this franchise.

/C4-wheeler here I come!

I liked the sniping of BF1. It wasn't just zoom in, point, and shoot. You had to back out to eject the cartridge. I also like just taking the scope off and playing with a bolt action. I wish the bolt action servers had stayed popular.

I'll admit though I suck at sniping and would just do it when I knew we were going to lose (or if I was drunk)

Honestly I think that pissed more people off because they just stopped making maps and focused on the costumes people could wear. Granted a lot of BFV complaints were "oH mY gOd tHeRe aRe wOmEn iN mUh bAtTlEfIElD!"

My kid still plays BF1 on a Playstation console as its included in one of their subscription passes. The rifles-only servers seem quite heavily populated and he never has trouble finding a match. Some of the other gameplay modes can take like 15 - 20 minutes to fill up enough to start a match.

Clutch2013: Oh, there's a thing I truly hate about Call of Duty.  It's poisoned the industry with this idea that movement is dictated by how long a rail of cocaine you did prior to picking up a controller, and anything slower is "camping".

"D00d, u need to stop camping, ur so bad."  God, I f*cking hate that sh*t.

Oh, yes.  Heaven help you if you act like an ACTUAL sniper go prone in a single spot and take a player out.  That player will go into a spittle-flecked, Cheetos-dust-infused rage about how you're a "camping scrub" and a "trash player".

Gotta love that logic, by the way; someone uses skill and precision (rather than jumping around like an overcaffeinated monkey) to take you out and THEY'RE the one who's "trash" or "so bad".  Whatever you say there, chief.

Sweet! Now I can be headshot by some twitchy dork halfway across the map after meandering aimlessly for three minutes...BUT IN THE FUTURE!

I gave up on the BF series because the guns they make you start out with are hot garbage, and I never feel like I'm actually contributing anything, just shooting random dudes while an arbitrary number ticks down.

assalon5: The twitter link is interesting in it self I recommend reading if you a gamer  and has other extracts from scenes.

Now all the cryptodorks have to do is find a way to fark up RAM...

Might be a blessing in disguise, though. Game companies might be forced to write more efficient code instead of relying on ever more powerful hardware to pick up the slack. Why TAF does CoD: Warzone take up almost 200GB?

UberDave: Aar1012: Clutch2013: AgtSmithReloaded: Aar1012: scottydoesntknow: (snip)

I liked COD 4 and World at War but I got really turned off by it with Modern Warfare 2 (though I did like the story). Black ops 1 had fun multiplayer but I really never got into COD again.

I remember the first few weeks of that launch. One of the glitches people exploited was the one where holding a care package smoke canister made you run ridiculously fast. People would equip a pistol with a tactical knife for faster stabs, whatever the knife lunge perk was called, and the perk that made you run forever. Was weird watching a bunch of human cheetahs zipping around ganking everybody they came across. My go-to for lunge-knifers was dual vectors and the rate of fire perk. Throws up a wall of tiny bullets that usually got them before they could reach me.

UberDave: NathanAllen: I'm in.

Then again what I really like about Battlefield is it is large enough that having one god-like player doesn't flip the entire match.

It looks like the last Battlefield I played was 3, and I remember being that terrible player, so I'd just go to some high location with a sniper rifle, and just play spotter.  That guy that thinks he's being sneaky circling around, picked off because there's eyes in the skies.

It's the role I play in Warzone now, as ... mostly useless that is at times.  It's why some of the better players I end up playing with are like "how the fark do you have over 200 final ten games, but only 10 wins."  My short game is garbage, that's why.  You know how most of those teams got to the final ten?  Because I sit with my HDR/ZRG and my spotter scope and I point out the three guys about to jump you on the hill and give you covering fire for that triple you brag about after.  But when it comes to the final circle or a building fight, I get out 1v1ed almost every time.

I think akimbo Vectors was my favorite loadout.  When I first tried it, I was like, "WTF is this?!"...but once I got the mouse-clicks down, I was on fire.  I've seen people use those for dual fire rather than alternating.  I can't imagine any other way than alternating.

I think Underpass was the best map for akimbo vectors.  It's medium sized and there's lots of rooms that is easy to peak out of with some lower than the surrounding ground.  You could sit in a room and just nail people passing by...until the figured it out and started grenading you.  Incidentally, Underpass was the best map for the running knife lungers (lots of tall grass).

hammer85: But when it comes to the final circle or a building fight, I get out 1v1ed almost every time.

Warzone my primary build is HDR + Diamatti. If I get a second loadout, I'll pick up my Mac-10/KAR class to go into final circle play. Playing Resurgence has made me much better in the close up game because that's what most of the round is - sweaty, gritty CQC. You want a good, fast firing SMG for the final rounds - or even the Gallo shotgun. You may also want to look at the KAR or Swiss K31, the KAR in particular has spectacular damage, if not the greatest range.

Generally speaking, my squad tends to start on the outside and move in, perfect for sniping.

Aar1012: Granted a lot of BFV complaints were "oH mY gOd tHeRe aRe wOmEn iN mUh bAtTlEfIElD!"

God this was tiresome, wasn't it? I love how COD: Warzone basically followed suit and no one said a damn thing.

The incels tried to half-ass an explanation later about how it wasn't authentic, but the damage was done at that point.

I always found it amusing that women in an FPS is what set them off, and not the whole overblown nonsense of the rest of that trailer.
