If a word is the subject of a sentence, it's still a subject even when paired with another subject using a conjunction.
Ditto object.

I'll give two examples that Farkers will understand.

"You and I should get drunk tomorrow."
"The bouncer kicked you and me out after we got drunk and started dancing on the tables."

Use whichever still sounds correct if you remove "you and."

"You and me will rob a bank?"
"Me will rob a bank?" wrong

"You and I will rob a bank?"
"I will rob a bank?" right

// Off to RTFA to see if I've been wrong for more than half a century...

Yep, the old litmus test is to take "I" out of the sentence and see how it sounds. Soon it will be second nature, even though it will sound odd to most people.

Unlike "whom" which people mostly just use incorrectly to sound smart...

The author hit a nerve with his antiquarian views on quotation marks. Or more properly: punctuation and quotation marks. Strunk and White and other style books never wrote a parser. Punctuation should help understanding, and that's why programmers are more useful guides to punctuation than fuddy-duddies addicted to the 19th century.

I dunno....

"You and should get drunk tomorrow" does sound odd to me, but I can't see it becoming second nature to talk like that, unless I start drinking a lot more.
