Some of the least vaccinated states are the most pro-Trump.

There are going to be multiple close races across the country that are going to be swung by Trump supporters too stupid to save themselves.

First: Trump told them it wasn't safe to vote, so they didn't and lost.
Now: Trump told them the vaccine wasn't safe, so they won't get it and die.

He's kind of, in a gross way, doing the Lib's work.

South Dakota has one of the best vax rates among red states. I'm not sure why. Healthcare is a major employer here, maybe that's it.

Do they even know their dear orange leader and his entire brood were among the first to get vaccinated?  Do they care?

This is also due to the severity of the virus. Far too many 'muricans seem to think their red-blooded Americanness is enough to defeat it. If this sucker was even slightly more deadly people would be killing each other to get the vaccine.

Trump killed so many people, and his re-election chances with his limp-dick Covid response.

I still remember sitting offshore watching the news and hearing him call it a hoax.

He would be president right now had he taken Covid seriously, I honestly believe that.  Another four years of grifting wasted.  I have no idea what the body count would be right now but it has to be less.

That depends. If it is older Trump supporters en masse refusing to get vaccinated, then you are probably right.

But my guess is that older Trumpers probably are getting vaccinated as much or nearly so as everyone else, and the low vaccination rates are among the Trump flag on the speedboat Floribama millennial set.

In which case, they are actually doing the virus' work; as incubators for new strains that will punch through the vaccines the rest of us took.

Would be nice to see the same type of data presented with more granularity, like electoral districts or county or something.  I assume the general trend would be similar or even more strongly emphasize the red blue divide over vaccinations.  For example, in Maine the Democratic counties are mid 60s to 75%  vaccinated while Aroostook (the huge one up top that birthed Susan Collins) is hovering at 51%.  This chart rightly shows the majority of Maine's population as being normal but doesn't depict the MAGA anchor dragging along behind it.  I assume some place like AZ has the inverse situation with a Maricopa County beacon of hope atop a MAGA mountain of doom.

I wonder how that correlates to state education rankings.

Not sure either.  Their governor is a q-anon idiot, directly responsible for more than 60,000 covid deaths by hosting a biker rally without controls, and downplaying the crisis.
Maybe people are aware at how bad she is and figured just do the opposite of what she recommends?  They also have a small population, and therefore is easier to achieve high percentage numbers.

It's almost as if the correlation between intelligence and political views is similar to the correlation between intelligence and vaccination rates.

It really isn't though. Sure they might die because of this choice, but their ability to incubate and spread vaccine-resistant/more deadly variants remains and threatens us sensible ones.

Thus escalating the problem.

Here's hoping for an enormous divide in survival rates, too. Time for America to clean out some of its plague rats.

Like all those belated 1/6 pardons finding their way through the US Postal Service , Trump will step in later this year as president and compel the virus to go, as soon as he is voted a god by the Senate.

It isn't in Trump to admit almost anyone is smarter than him, and certainly not in him to defer to experts on subject matter that is in their field of expertise.  He failed in the most Trumpian way possible.

Send people door to door. They can get vaccinated or not as they choose.

If they choose not to be vaccinated then and haven't already be vaccinated on their own, an hour later drive a tank through their door, blast them with the turret net gun, and while they are immobilized sitck all kinda useful injections in their butt cheeks, including corona vaccine.

After they achieved notoriety by being the worst state in daily cases and deaths. South Dakota has a population close to San Francisco, but has 4x the number of cases and deaths.

He really really did.

-ignored experts
-lied
-made it about him
-lied
-attacked experts when ignoring them did not get him enough attention
-lied
-played golf
-lied some more

I still don't understand it though. Not really.  It's not like him saying "listen to these people so we can enjoy summer" was going to make him work harder. Arguably he worked harder denying everything.

Yup. I think we're down to 3rd in total cases per capita (behind North Dakota and, of all things, Rhode Island) and something like 5th in deaths per capita. Haven't looked in a little while.

Given how spacious we are, we should have done much, much better. But North Dakota went through the same thing, and we're well ahead of them in vaccine rate. I wonder why.

I assume that when you look at this data by county, the divide is even wider.

I don't believe Trump deserves any credit for the lack of vaccination in certain parts of the country.

Many of the people I know who are the biggest anti-vaccination types believe that COVID-19 will not get past their perceived privileged positions.. mostly due to limited interactions by default (small towns and/or hyper-localized interactions).

At least we can all wait and see how the different states turn out in the long run.

Blue: lockdown, record unemployment, nursing home geronticide, increased suicide and divorce rates, citizens leaving in droves

Red: open, employed, gaining House seats

Maybe it will all come crashing down on the Red states eventually.

More circumstantial evidence that Montana's ES&S cooked election was stolen.  81% of all adult Montanans have received at least one shot.  40% have taken both.

I see a spark that the US could be going a road to become the truly evil monster that future science fiction dramatizes.

A conservative's dream of quiet genocide by making health care just out of reach during a plague is happening now.  Impoverished survivors, diminishing rights, and undocumented inflation along with a crippled economy -- how could power not be taken away.

What happened on 1/6/2021 would not be a surprise to those living in 2015.

Dying with Covid is not even in the top 5 in the US anymore.  The 7 day avg in my state has been in the single digits for like 2 months now.  The masks came off at my work 3 weeks ago and no one has caught covid

Ever heard the old story about two guys camping when a bear wonders into the camp late one evening?

One guy wakes up to his buddy quietly slipping on his boots.

"What are you doing?"

"There's a bear in the camp"

"What are you nuts? You can't put run a bear!!"

Don't have to, just have to put run you"

Not getting your jabs?......seems like a self-correcting problem.

Got me jabs, can't be bothered with science deniers and political idiots, let them die from something preventable.....that will show 'em.....that'll show 'em all!!!!
