I liked the comment that he should make this also a thing for employees, that employees should have the right to such freedoms of tyranny from their Texan employers.

Now I wouldn't put it past a.Texan conservative to BE SO OBTUSE that they can't see the ramifications of a broad law such as that, buuut they love their lack of workers' rights so much that you'd just KNOW any law they write would pigeonhole COVID exclusively. "Oh, fired because you were raped on the job? Too bad."

Next up is freedom from the tyranny of pants when I go to Walmart to buy a new plunger.

Under no circumstances whatsoever would a Texas Republican find anything wrong with raping a worker.  Or any Republicans from any state.

"Those that violate the ban may not contract with the state, and state agencies that oversee various sectors of business may decide to make compliance with the state law a condition of getting licensed or permitted."

'may decide'

Yep.  It says that and - From the bill (same section):

(e)This section may not be construed to:
(1)restrict a business from implementing COVID-19 screening and infection control protocols in accordance with state and federal law to protect public health;

He's trying to make it sound like he has restricted businesses from requiring proof of vaccination with *anyone*.  Considering I know (now) multiple people at large oil and gas companies who are doing just that at this very moment (spot checking mask-less employee and contractors in their buildings).

He's "carefully" wording that so the morons will cheer him.  I'm waiting on someone in my office to say this means that businesses can't check their employees.

In the U.S. we call them Farmer's markets.

Abbott wants to main and kill children. Texas has a criminally indicted AG (Fraud and corruption) So  Abbott wanting to dance on the graves of children and the stupid is on republican brand. Granted Texas education standards are working hard to keep people stupid.

/Abbot shouldn't  have a leg to stand on for the law.

That covers two major cruise port terminals then. Florida and Texas (Galveston Beach).

Don't compete with Florida.

I wonder if he and the GQP of Texas just removed all Texas school vaccination requirements for things like Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis that previously were part of the school laws?

So much for the GOP talking point of "government should leave the private sector alone".

Is this even legal?

I think Abbott suffers from something more, maybe less, than your garden variety short man syndrome.

Texas isn't as red as you think (in the same California isn't as blue). The difference being that Democrats don't ram through laws for the express purpose to limiting the other side's ability to vote.

Republicans, get this straight:

You do NOT have the freedom to endanger the lives of others.

PERIOD. Full stop.

Now quit being a bunch of farking babies about the vaccines.

The way the law is worded, yes.

The way Abbott is characterizing it, no.

The only thing that matters is a) showing how tough you are so that you b) getting elected next election cycle and c) make boat loads of money off the system.

This does not just go for Republicans, Democrats do the same thing. It just so happens Texas embodies the whole "fark you got mine" mentality.

Why people don't get this is beyond me.

Texas's 7-day rolling average of infections is like 50 percent more than California, and I'm sure California is more accurately reporting.

Or TB testing requirements for medical staff

Abbott and DeSantis seem like they're competing for trying to pass overly broad laws that will just end up in court. At least Abbott doesn't have to worry about Disney.

Cant wait for the delta variant to rip through red voting districts. A couple hundred thousands less republicans for the 2022 election will be great for the country.

I just hope these deadly mutant disease carriers, mostly stay where they are. We could make the California "Real ID" into a passport that keeps red states out.

I'm guessing you don't know what executive orders actually are. But I'll give you a hint, they don't allow King Biden to rule by fiat...

What the actual poopspatter do people think? Privatizing government means everything is done on contract with a private company vendor. Who is that stupid to not understand what neoliberalism has been since 1980?

God was in favor of identifying the plague rats, having them mask, and ostracizing them:

Leviticus 13:45-46

"Anyone with such a defiling disease must wear torn clothes, let their hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of their face and cry out, 'Unclean! Unclean!' As long as they have the disease they remain unclean. They must live alone; they must live outside the camp."Why is Abbott anti-Bible?

No an executive order doesn't work by fiat but an emergency OSHA rule that employers need to have records of vaccination might well work.

I wouldn't lose much sleep if a mass causality event happened specifically to republicans. Hopefully smarter people can vaccinate and we can, together, watch subhumans die.

But I know from personal experience that it IS legal for employers in Texas to impose random drug tests on their employees.

Even when it's only approved for emergency use?
