Why does Loki need to explain stuff to the Tennessee Valley Authority?

What's gratuitous about a Tom Hiddleston butt shot?

I don't care about that douche, bring back Jessica Jones.

You're betting that Disney, that owns pretty much everything in the entertainment industry is going to fail? I'll take that action.

I think he's talking about the service itself being unavailable (also known as "crashing") when the episode drops due to high user traffic and an inexplicable lack of effort to account for that eventuality. And yes that's probably what's going to happen.

So they'll have to buy some new servers. Disney+ isn't going anywhere.

Too late to take that bet?  Can you please define, "most splendidly?"

So much better than Wandavision. And the TVA set design is on par with Legion. I love the black bottom bulbs. And stripperbot. Also gonna take some gymnastics to explain multiverse Loki and 2012 Loki. But I'm in. Also multiverse of madness tie in in the french church.

Loved the first episode. Wish I'd waited 6 weeks to watch the whole thing all at once.

Damn that was good. Just give Hiddleston the Emmy for scenery chewing right now. That moment when he figures out what all his scheming, all his planning, all of his 'glorious purpose' amounts to in the end...

First impressions:  Neat story.  Kind of a 48 Hoursmeets A Christmas Carol vibe going on.  I liked it.

He must have threatened to destroy a hydroelectric dam.

If the Nexus and multiverse mentions in WandaVision weren't enough, they REALLY foreshadowed the next phase and danger of the multiverse here.

I liked it a lot. Sure, it was all dialogue and clip show, but for all the heavy lifting it had to do I thought they handled it as well as possible. A lot of that came in the back and forth between Wilson (whose Texan slow drawl is the perfect compliment to Tom's Shakespearean ham) and Hiddleston. The bit players (Pillboi!) were great, too.

I definitely got a Good Place (seasons 2-4) vibe out of the droll powers that be treating massive events like boring, everyday tasks.

I could not figure how I knew Casey (Pillboi).  Also Tara Strong is the voice of Miss Minutes. Yea...the drawer full of paperweights was a mind fark

Since marvel seems to like mining Hickman's recent(ish)  Avengers work, is the scanning for robots bit referencing the Mapmakers from the buildup to the more recent Secret Wars? Or is it just another play for jokes?

The Squirrel Girl cameo was a pleasant surprise.

I liked it.

The drawer... that was a "whoa!" moment. That was when you realize these guys aren't a joke, despite their casual attitude and actual sense of humor about essentially being the strong-arm of Fate & Destiny.

I do wish they'd drop the show all at once, though. I am not a fan of weekly episodes. I cut the cord to avoid all that.

This was great.

Someone mentioned "Legion" above and that's the exact same vibe I got from it. Which is a good thing, IMO.

I loved this, the world building was good and Owen Wilson was great opposite Loki in snarkyness

/Also got a sort of fallout vibe from the cartoon and atmosphere

Just watched it, and it was a lot of fun.

The TVA reminds me of what a Fully Functional Aperture Science would be like.

Spoilers:

I must have watched too much of The Boys and Invincible type shows because when he got the collar on that guard and was repeatedly rewinding her, I really though he was trying to catch her in the closed door and bisect her. They even had a setup for it when he rewinded (rewound?) Loki into the chair that wasn't there anymore and he fell in the floor. I should have known that would be way over the top for D+ Marvel though, though very much in line with the Loki who just a day or so before had removed a man's eyeball while he was still alive.

They really should bring some aspects of that show into the MCU. I'm sure everyone has their favorite parts of it, but I feel like Fitz, Simmons, and their take on the Ghost Rider were all good enough to sneak back in by executive handwaving magic.

Show was good, but expected to like it more. Imagine that is coming in the second episode since a lot of the first was catching people who might not be 100% on the character up to previous events. Not sure if it's just the quality of the set design, but feel like Marvel/Disney spent far more money on this one.

Part of it may be that its basically all indoors, and the color grading Marvel uses for all their movies and shows look better under artificial light (especially fluorescent), while looking washed out and dull in natural light.

The first episode of anything is setup.  You also have to remember that the character is a previous version of himself.  You need a reason to catch up the character with 8 years of character development too.  Now he can act like Thor Ragnarok Loki without having to do extra hand-waving.

1. Like everyone else said in this thread, the production design's brilliant. It's like they found a bunch of circa 1970 Sweet's architectural catalogs and just went nuts

2. Kinda wish the lighting was a little brighter. Probably just me, but I'm not impressed by dinge and gloom anymore. I started watching 'Man in the High Castle' a couple weeks ago and couldn't stand so much dimness, I gave up halfway through season 1 ep 2.

3. I wasn't annoyed by Owen Wilson like I thought I'd be. That was a nice surprise.

It's the best thing I've seen in thirty years.

The gravity of the paperweight drawer could literally be felt and measured.

I'm getting a strong Time Bandits / Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy / Dirk Gently vibe too, and it's intoxicating.

I'm sold. Beyond sold. Top shelf stuff.
