"In an update on Tuesday, Ryan says she is sticking with her original conclusion. "

How is this an update?  Why is this even an article? It's basically just "here's this filler piece we published a while ago, with a headline that implies new information."

Given that this was Florida, I was really expecting the article to be something along the lines of her setting up a trap and killing the thing to identify it, with a picture of her holding some totally normal animal that just looks weird at that angle on camera in the dark.

If it's a dinosaur, it's someone's escaped pet since it has a leash attached to it.

I heard a new creationist argument this week about how if insects really existed before birds and mammals they would have spread unchecked and destroyed life on Earth because there was nothing around to eat them. Creationists ability to conjure up stupid thoughts still blows my mind.

I certainly feel that way every time I pass a gaggle of Canada geese foraging in the grass or crossing the road. It's the way they walk and generally just move.

I always love that one goose standing as sentinel over the others. Reminds me a test proctor: "Okay, kids, ten more minutes? That's ten more minutes, folks."

I do not like the cobra chicken.

Of COURSE they still exist! I have four small, brightly colored screamers myself, in a cage. My in-laws and I used to keep a yard full of the semi-flightless variety and we ate their eggs, and they still have some on their new property. Me, I live in a town famous for the Farm that has the ground-crawling tailed kind and some dumbass just got his head chomped on this very past week further south. My father keeps the weird red kind that are some of the few known animals in the world to make "true red" in their plumage and not just get it from their diet. Hell, I saw a flock of the spoon-billed kind flying overhead a few months ago.

Dinosaurs are still very much with us.

As a teenager I was not aware of the existence of Sandhill cranes and the very first time I drove by a pair in the ditch in the Ocala National Forest I had to do a double take because on a fast pass, that is exactly what they look like and how they move, so in the dark I can totally understand how this woman could make that mistake.

I've told this story before on Fark, but once @ 10 years or so back in an older apartment complex in Jax that butted up to some abandoned land and raw nature, one night I had a spooky-ass "Mothman" sighting. Skeptical as I am it really caught me off guard because from a distance, without glasses on, it really did look like a crazy Florida man wearing a cloak or cape was jump from roof to roof. I knew the distance between buildings was impossible for a human to clear and naturally I tried to get my wife's attention to confirm and she missed it, and when I went out looking I found nothing. Next day bright and early I was out riding my bike and I rode by one of the larger drainage ditches out back in that abandoned area and suddenly a GIANT wood stork came flopping up out of the ditch and landed on the side of the road near me and I knew instantly in that moment that this is what I had seen: the way the wood stork hobbled about was identical and also oddly very human-like. My "Mothman" mystery solved, to this day I still wonder what the hell it was doing roof-hopping in the dark of night.

Baby dinosaur? Maybe it was an adult dinosaur - not all of them were huge!

/down the rabbit hole: dinosaurs seemed to be either really big, or really small. There were relatively few "medium sized" dinosaurs. It's speculated that juvenile bid dinosaurs filled the ecological niches of "medium" dinosaurs.

CSB: I usually have a near photographic memory for TV shows/movies (at least when I'm not severely inebriated) but The Mothman Prophecies is the only movie I rented more than twice (back when Blockbuster was still a thing) because I couldn't remember watching it the first two times. Underwhelming is an understatement.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of PO'd at TFA's troll headline. They got me to reread this nonsense where they knew I was coming into it thinking they might have actually found out what it was.
