If he is talking about leaving Congress, there's a reason.  My guess is that the polling back home indicates even the common clay of the Redneck Riviera is finally fed up being saddled with this particular albatross.

Yeeeah, everything indicates that guy's whole life is about to turn completely radioactive.

And just like when it happens locally to someone you're acquainted with, they're usually the last person capable of recognizing it's all swirling the drain. This idiot still thinks he can fundraise & PR-handle his way out of whatever's coming down the pike.

Pfft. Teen Vogue does a good amount of seriously legit long-form journalism. It's honestly an impressive operation.

This isn't an episode of Law & Order: SVU. Investigations take time, especially when they are still talking to witnesses.

Not really.  I know these people.  My wife has a rental property there, and we spend a lot of time out in the area.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are fed up with him making the wrong kind of national news.  Trump won't talk to him anymore; that's political death.  They'll just elect someone worse, but who doesn't farkids.  Or at least doesn't use venmo to pay for them.

All he has to do is look north to Alabama for the election results from the last alleged pedophile who ran for major public office.

I dunno...Jason Chaffitz became a Congressman so that he could parlay it into a career as a pundit.

Isn't it great to vote for someone who really wants you to know that he doesn't give two shizflaps about you?

Rich and well connected people have access to lawyers that don't advertise on billboards outside of a bail bondsman.

Based on smart people who live there, probably not.  More likely he's been told there's an ideological sycophantic clone of him ready to do all the same garbage, without the baggage, and he'll be primary'ed out, so he should go now.

I grew up a bit south of Tallahassee, and even for the illbred redneck Cleeti of my people, those farkers westward in the Panhandle were considered degenerate farkwits.

Patience, grasshopper. This has to be so ironclad that a judge and jury can't let him weasel out of the consequences. A 10 year mandatory minimum is a big deal.
I too, shiver with anticipation, but will wait for a sure thing.
