That was not what I was expecting to see for "stupid and dangerous TikTok trend." That's... relatively harmless.

Why do I click on a Fox News site and look at the comments? I'd spend a better time putting my balls in a bowling ball return.

Yup.  "We're using protein powder mixed with coffee in place of our standard coffee flavored milkshakes!" I can think of worse.

Protein chains fold when heated. Microwave carnation instant breakfast and it turns out in clumps like a bag of rubber bands that sat in a bag in a drawer too long if you add it to heated coffee, I don't see a problem with using it as creamer It all gets mixed up in your stomach anyway

Since it's on Fox News, I now doubt the existence of TikTok.

Since it's TikTok, I assume any girls who attempt it are encouraged to do it nekid.

So can I but I'll pass on 10 cups of coffee/caffeine powdered form. When I was growing up we just took meth.

I also thought this was going to be about the "dry scooping" stories that are going viral lately. I watched this video after it popped up in my recommended YouTube videos a couple weeks ago. What an idiot. Dude was pretty much suicidal.

I have been making coffee protein shakes for years. I only drink them on my workout days, when the added protein might actually help instead of getting sh*t out.

Viral whatsis now?

"Indigenous" (in quotes because it seems like the tribe changed every hundred years or so) tribes in my neck of the woods used to overdose on caffeine as part of a manhood ritual.  It's why the highly caffeinated yaupon tree has the scientific name ilex vomitus or something like that.

At this point, I'm thinking dangerous is the best kind of Tik Tok trend. The more dangerous the better.

And this is why one of my obscure hobbies - recreating old beverages - is getting harder and more expensive. Because of idiots like this it's illegal to sell pure caffeine to individuals in the US.

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends limiting calories from added sugars to no more than 10% of one's daily caloric intake, or 12 teaspoons for a 2,000 calorie diet. And some protein powders can contain as much as 23 grams of added sugar per scoop.

What the fark, article?  Could you give me a SINGLE unit that's easily converted to the other in that single farking sentence? 1tsp contains 4.2 grams of sugar which is 16 calories.  The upper limit given (12 tsp) gives you 50.4 grams or 192 calories (close enough to the 200 calories).  Therefore the 23 grams of added sugar in a single scoop accounts for half of your daily intake.

That is a farkload of sugar for a protein powder.  The one I have in my desk right now (Dymatize) has less than 1g per scoop, gold standard (the GNC store brand) has 1g, Muscle Milk has 3g.  Is the author just hunting for the protein powder with the most sugar?  I farking GOOGLED "protein powder with sugar" and the top result is only showing 3g (MuscleTech Nitro Tech).  Meanwhile the Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino at Starbucks is 51 grams of sugar for a 16 ounce.  I think we can agree the protein powder is A-O-farking-K in comparison.

I think they confused the amount of protein with the amount of sugar.  Most protein powders are giving you around 20g of protein per scoop.  I'm not digging all that up again but the one in my desk is 25g, muscle milk is I think 23g, and I can't remember the others, but I know from shopping these are normal numbers.

I like to think I'm pretty well read in this area, I don't know what I'm talking about, Maybe the places I get info from don't know what they're talking about, I have it on good authority that you should use protein post-workout
Muscle building happens in your rest phase, I could be wrong

That stuff is pretty potent.  I drink it before I exercise.  I also can't imagine why people are dry scooping, the shiat is gross.  The best way to drink it is with about 2-3x the water that it says to.  Like it says to mix it with 8 ounces of water, I mix it with 24. And even then, it tastes like ass.

At the same time, its not any more potent than drinking a couple cups of coffee. but if you have an underlying condition, yeah, it will probably fark you up.

Don't these "trends" turn out to be like six total people and the media gets parents terrified?

2021-06-08 8:27:29 PM
"the new"? Don't you mean virtually all?

Stupid people are so obsessed with the latest trends and fads, especially when it promises "results" without actually doing something. Try moving around more. Try eating less. Try a balanced diet. Try not consuming a schittload of sugar.

People are stupid and lazy: news at 11!

I think they dry scoop because they only have 26 minutes to get to the gym

That's a semi-myth called the "anabolic window" which is off.  As long as the protein is consumed within 24 hours of your workout it will be utilized for building muscle.  However, right after you work out is a great time for some extra protein because you just burned a bunch of calories and you're about to be hungry so it's still a good idea to get a protein shake or snack right after working out.
