This should go over well... The Biden administration is launching trade and investment talks with Taiwan, advancing U.S. ties with Taipei and likely adding to frictions with the island's nemesis, Beijing.

Mitch McConnell bashes Schumer's agenda for June, saying it is "transparently designed to fail," taking aim at the Paycheck Fairness Act, potential gun limits and the S1 elections bill. "Senate Democrats intend to focus this month on the demands of their radical base," he says.

On a long and lonesome highway
East of Omaha
You can listen to the engine
Moaning out his one-note song
You can think about the woman
Or the girl you knew the night before

TIL there is an actual music venue named East of Omaha and is in Griswold, IA which happens to be, you bet, east of Omaha.

I think one of the birds living in a bird nest on our porch has a piece of clear plastic (possibly scotch tape) stuck to his beak. Either that or it has been carrying the same piece of clear plastic around since yesterday.

Not sure why the other birds aren't telling it "dude get that shiat off your your face"?

So I am safely back at the apartment. At 4 am.

I don't know who the excavator operator was, or who signed the excavation permit, but they're both on my sh*t list.

They are nice. The ones we have been using are a mishmash of models from different manufacturer's and all decades old and outdated/falling apart. They are not WWII surplus though. I've been trying to get new scopes since I started in this job in 2012. What we had was embarrassing.

10 mass shootings in 10 states over the weekend and judges are calling the AR-15 is comparable to the Swiss Army knife?

Right, let's fight! I'll bring the AR-15 and 100 rounds and you bring as many Swiss army
Knives as you want. Wanna bet?

Damn, that makes me angry! Something is wrong with our society and we're burying our head in the sand with America's mental health in crisis, we're going all in on guns?

Who do we have to Kill to get some sensible, common sense regulation these days?

Years ago there was a store in Iowa City called Ragstock.
In the basement there was a 'military surplus' clothing section. They had stuff from all over the world.
In high school I got a Czech winter coat. Ankle length wool. Still had all the patches and inside there was the name and other writing in Czech.

Primary elections in VA tomorrow. All the news outlets are saying McAuliffe and Herring have it in the bag, but it's a toss-up for Lt. Gov.

Which is funny, because I'll be voting Herring but not McAuliffe (Jennifer McClellan), and a brief perusal of the Lt. Gov websites did not come across as though all of these candidates had an equal shot. I mean, when one has an endorsement page a mile long and has addressed every issue under the sun, and another has basically, "I'm a business guy who does business things, but please send me $5," it makes me scratch my head as to how there's a contest here. (To be fair, there are seven people running, and those are the two extremes; but still, there's a full spectrum, and it's not really a tie as to who's running a serious campaign.)

When I was in high school we had Aardvark's Odd Ark in Redondo Beach, where I bought Navy middies and old (really old) baseball jerseys to wear.

Dad was fond of going to Andy & Bax when he visited me in Portland and picking up peacoats and watchcaps.  Can't beat a peacoat!
