It's not normal for people to reject the outcome of a Democratic election.

It *is* normal for candidates for a primary for the party not expected to win to be super extremists.

Hmm, so if I was a registered Republican my choice is between two Trumpers and a Christie clone tomorrow? Whoopee.

I've seen this RV (or something similar) by my local Wegman's on and off the last few months.

In a sane country, that would legally disqualify them from standing for election.

Probably not.  But they know how radicalized their idiot base has become, so they cynically parrot the bonkers trash they like to hear.  Honestly, that's probably even worse, not to mention more depressing.

NJ is weird in that there's a lot more rural than people who only know it from The Sopranos realize, and those parts are deep red.

That said, I believe (so far) Phil Murphy is popular.  I mean among the part of the state that doesn't want to constantly fellate the Orange Ogre.

No, they probably don't, just like most Republicans don't actually believe that. They're pretending to believe it, which is worse.

You see how that's worse, right?

New Jersey is politically weird, but still pretty predominantly Democratic if I'm not mistaken.
The weirdo Democrat who switched to GOP because he's a Trumper really threw me.

I don't see Murphy losing, but it is depressing as hell. They'll probably claim the election was stolen.

I kinda hope they do it for the primary to create more infighting, but then I remember rooting for Trump to win the primary to set Hillary up for an easy win...

They are running ads claiming they will repeal the mask mandate, never mandate them again, and ensure that the vaccine is never mandated.

Honestly? In the 80s the GOP was OK. In retrospect they were never really that great, but that's what happens as the nation moves forward and progresses and we realize how many awful biases we carried forward from before. But they weren't overtly evil like today. It was covert evil.

1.9 Million New Jersians voted for Donald Trump. That's more people than voted for him in Tennessee, Alabama or Kentucky. The difference between NJ and those other states is that even more people voted for the other guy. But that's still a real big pool to draw crazy from.

You could do worse than the 1950s and Eisenhower, when there were liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats.  He was opposed to a military industrial complex and took active efforts to enforce integration, which was pretty good for the time.

If you just doubted that those specific politicians believe it, you might have a point.

But after growing up among some hardcore pentecostals in the Midwest, (including a brief stint in which my mother dabbled in a cult that eschewed all medical care,) I think you're underestimating the capability of the human mind to believe stupid lies.

yeah if you ignore the Korean War Crimes, Operation Wetback where they rounded up millions of Hispanics and literally dumped them in the middle of Mexico, this included thousands of US citizens, many of who had never been to Mexico it also was a giant wealth grab as many lost land houses cars bank accounts jobs ect ect

Then we have The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 which created walled off black neighborhoods, racist ghettos and pushed white flight causing the racist hell of intercity America

Y'all only think Eisenhower is good because you have a shiat US history education and believe the propaganda.

Of course this happened. But what I'm saying is, it was way more covert than you would like to think. Republicans were way more moderate than today, even if their policies were subterranean horrors. We didn't have the internet to share the gruesome realities of those policies. Some of the negative results of those policies had not yet come to fruition.

Today it's all-out fascism and nationalism. Yesterday it was Reagan's wink wink death squads.

This is the effectiveness of Fox, OANN, Facebook reposts, et. Al.

43% of Americans live in a world where Democrats have without a doubt stolen a presidential election and ended democracy.  They are at war with those they perceive to be destroying our country.

This is what Steve Bannon and the Murdoch family's fire hose of lies has brought us.

for all the left was accused of worshipping the messiah Obama...I never really did see barns with his name painted on them, flags of his own every where, RVs just decked out in such stuff.

maybe I am in a bubble, I just don't get the idolatry of Trump vs nearly any other politician in history.

Closest in sainthood worship status I can think of is Reagan, FDR.  Not sure how many trailers, boats and RVs had Reagan flags, I was too young to notice.   There were Bernie tattoos, but that doesn't feel similar in comparison.

Are there just lots of similar democrats with RVs covered in Biden flags or Dem boat parades sunk in honor of Clinton?

Basically. I'm not defending their actions. In retrospect we can all see what kinds of horrible people they were. And many of those in the party might have been misguided. But hindsight is 20-20. Also to be fair, I grew up in the 80s. Things really were different. I was younger and dumber. We had a fairly stable working class. People weren't leaving rural America in droves. It's easy to see today that the policies of Nixon and Reagan and Bush were grotesque.

Today, there's no forgiving anyone who is a Trump Republican. At all. If you support Trump in any way, you're basically a scumbag to me. Although I will say this - Trump has been very successful at recruiting people that are angry with both parties, people generally angry at the wealthy, and with a divided Senate under Manchin and Sinema, it's pretty easy to see why, because once again nothing is f*cking happening. At some point I think a lot of people start to question whether both parties really are just doing this sh*t on purpose. But I certainly am smart enough not to put a dumb asshole like Trump into power as a 'f*ck you' to a government owned by the plutocracy.
