Shrimp should have a distinctive flavor and unique, slightly jasmine aroma. Not slathered in bread, eggs, and coconut. What abomination is this?

Coconut sounds like it should go really well with shrimp.  In reality the textures don't work for me.  Perfectly cooked delicate shrimp, with overly chewy coconut flakes.  Not good at all.

Did not watch subby's cooking video to see what the ingredients were.

I thought it was going to be a version of soused shrimp.

I hereby indict this recipe for the high crime of making me remember that damn song again.

If you have to do all that to your seafood, you've got lousy seafood.

Looked at the place's other offerings on their website. It looks good. Especially the rare ahi tuna. They don't need to stoop to this crap.

Grilled/ pan fried thrown in a tortilla with some Baja slaw and maybe a little hot sauce.

It's supposed to be the star of the show.

Maybe I'm an outlier here, but I actually like coconut shrimp now and then if it's done right.

/not what's done in the video

I should say 'it's not how it's prepared in the video'. What' he's made sounds pretty good.

Grits, tacos, poboys, corn soup, scampi, blackened on Alfredo, and all kinds of things as the star of the show.

There was a Japanese restaraunt long time back near JSC that had a lunch buffet. I was in my 20's then and could eat more shrimp tempura than was safe.

Last nights' repast: pound of skrimps, butter,  a few drops toasted sesame oil, garlic powder, pepper, tajin. Took ten minutes. No skrimp survived...

the wife love-love-lurrrves her some coconut shrimp. me, I just love skrimps in general, so naturally I always fall for it when she orders those, lololol. never once had one I liked, not from various restaurants, not different frozen ones from the supermarche. I d'nno, maybe if'n I tried making it my-ownself I could eventually come up with a version I liked. but for why? lol.

meanwhile, super-colossal skrimps, eeny-meeny crabcakes...

at first I couldn't find photos of peel'n'eat, so here's a local dish simply called "35 skrimps"

hunh, now I wonder what the disjoint is, among:
- people who order amaebi (or something else like tenpura where they might use raw shrimp)
- people who are too stupid to know about the heads (or do know but would never ask for them)
- how many damn extra heads the kitchen got back there

like, could I Ron Swanson it? "deep fry me all the shrimp heads you got"
...
"Wait, wait. I'm worried what you just heard was, give me a lot of shrimp heads. What I said was, give me all the shrimp heads you have. Do you understand?"

Not ALL you can eat.
