Only in America is the fight for human rights fought via sloganeering between two megacorps.

The only thing BK did correct with chicken was subservient chicken.

For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.

I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.

FTA: Chick-fil-A has faced backlash for its donations - and those made by executives - for years. Before 2012, the company consistently donated to anti-LGBTQ groups and CEO Dan Cathy said supporting same-sex marriage would invite God's judgment on the country.

God did judge the country.  He sent a plague and a swarm of murder hornets in response to Trump being elected.

That's some good PR and shade, but it reminds me of a gripe that's been brewing for a while now. It's just weird how homogenous that one aspect of every fast food menu is right now.

I heard it's a rooster who identifies as a hen.   Perhaps, they could donate more money to the employees.   It's really a pittance committed to the cause, and (as is often the case) they'll spend more money on promoting the donation than the donation.

The irony here is of course, BK is just one brand name of megacorp RBI, while the chik is a privately owned and run company by just one family.

So basiaclly chick is, by poster child example, the American cultural ideal icon, the self made self manged individual that does what they want to and succeeds when doing so.
While BK is just one of a dozen plus brand names part of a corporate portfolio, and they just do whatever they imagine makes the most money, they do run on any cultural or moral ideals of any kind really, just a mechanical machine made of people parts with the only goal of make money to make more monye to make more mopey.

Basically the a-moral machine, winds up taking actions we like from one POV better, but the general situaiotn of what chik is, is near picture perfect for what American cultural ideals are, self defined, independent, and doing what the owner feels is best to do without having to bow before any one.

Basically real publicly traded mega corp, they are as moral as the profits make it worth while to be, as soon as there is more monye to made from hate and sexism and nazis, that's what the market will have to offer.
While a person can make the choice to follow their morality and just earn less moeny doing so.
But for a publicly traded comp[any, making a less profitable but more moral choices, can find you being sued by the investors for not doing your job and maximizing profits for them.

Like basiaclly the individual could run their business on morality, but they do get to choose their own morality, while the corporation simply has no power to make moral choice in the first place. their process is just profit based, and it literally includes willfully breaking the law and paying the fines as a more profitable option than doing what is right.

So yeah, irony lvl 11 here by my POV on who gets praise from who for why.

Burger King has cloned the Popeye's chicken sandwich. Maybe borrowed it since their both owned by RBI. Will Popeyes be selling burgers now?

I don't care if Chick-fil-a is soaking orphans in gasoline and setting them on fire I'm still not eating at Burger King.

2021-06-07 4:47:27 PM
The only downside I can see here is that you're eating Burger King.

(Well, okay, the fact that it's a chicken sandwich is a downside for me, too.  As are the pickles.)

Used to like Wendy's Chicken Club with Cheese.  It approximated something like real ingredients, except for the cheese

Meh, Burger King can not offer a chicken sandwich and still have a better chicken sandwich than CFA.  Never thought a place that focused only on chicken could fail at chicken.

Isn't the McChicken sauce mayonnaise and a bit of mustard?

I suppose that was easier than making good tasting food.

2021-06-07 6:14:41 PM
I am a fan of chicken so I've tried to try the different sandwiches. I have not tried Chik-fil-A because there isn't one close (yet) and I even tried Popeye's new blackened (the best so far), so I'll give the Burger King one a try on my next cheat day.

2021-06-07 6:37:58 PM
To those who support Chick-fil-A for their "moral" stance this will not cause them to flock to BK.  doubtful this will have much of an impact of the Chick, it might take some customers from McDonalds and Wendy's

2021-06-07 6:39:09 PM
I kinda like the classic BK chicken sandwich.  There's something about that pre-fab pseudo chicken and the flavors in the breading that I really like.

2021-06-07 6:51:22 PM
Look, I'm cool with mocking Chick-fil-a's ugly past.  But there's still Popeye's to contend with.  Heck, even KFC. Better luck next time, BK.

To top things off, BKs sandwich is more expensive than both Popeye's and KFCs. And I think maybe even Chick-fil-a's.  And I'm pretty sure smaller than the first two of those.

It doesn't taste bad. I'll give it that.  But neither do those others.

To sum up what you just said, the radical left is using its vast power to cancel Chick-fil-A because they want to destroy America and enslave white people. Fair characterization, no?

Oh, good, either I am preemptively not paying attention to them, or this thread hasn't yet filled up with straight people who are happy to publicly inform us that they're still supporting companies that want people like me killed, despite having exactly zero obligations to and it would be absurdly, ridiculously easy to stop doing so.

What a nice change from the norm. Happy Pride indeed, everyone!

I don't have a dog in this fight (there are no Chic-fil-a's in Japan), but I was curious by the assertion. This is what the wiki had to say (with a few AP articles echoing it).

In an interview with Bisnow in 2019, Chick-fil-A President Tim Tassopoulos said the company will stop donating to charities with anti-LGBT views.[38] The company will instead donate to charities focused on education, homelessness and hunger.[38][39] These new organizations could include both faith-based and non-faith-based charities, but the company said none of the organizations have anti-LGBT positions.

Now I get that saying and doing are two different things, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I lost the article, but there was also a little blurb about recommending the individual locations get involved in the commuity (to which the article author wrote, and I'm paraphrasing, used to mean churches but now means education and youth programs.

It's not really enough to simply stop--you have to atone. And that's no "this person changed their ways, Scrooge-style" story, anyway.

Also, every time they say they've stopped, it turns out they're lying.

I don't buy that for a second.

By "ugly past" I was more referring to the fact that he's no longer running the company. Admittedly it's still his family doing so, but they're the ones showing at least a smidgen of change.  The old racist, homophobic goat though?  I have no reason to believe he's changed.

I'm not normally a fast food person. This past winter, I got a little lazy about cooking one day. There's a Burger King with a drive through close by so I got the crispy chicken sandwich. It wasn't bad. I had some scotch bonnet hot sauce so I added that and it popped quite nicely.

C-fil is a big deal here and I never have figured out why.  Sandwichs are average at best and while the sauce is okay it nothing to get excited about. I have never figured out why the drive through wraps around the building. BK is better in general then McD's but that is not saying much.  I try to avoid giving any of them my money and my stomach appreciates that.

more or less, cultural ideals of the last 100 years.
Are they financially successful on their own terms?

i do not notice any other checks of meaningful note here in our American culture.
If there were more to ti than that i'd be real sure someone like trump could not make it to the position in our culture that he did.

Maybe if we are lucky the longer term evolution recreation to that will be to start having more checks to pass than just, i like monye.
