I've had vegan donuts from 2 different places and the only thing that is consistent is that they are too chewy. Recipe reminds me of my grandmother's mashed potatoes cakes.

Tofu's texture can be manipulated with other ingredients and it takes on any flavor. Additionally, deep frying makes everything taste better. Even your mom.

Well, I spent a good 10 minutes GISing various foods that I personally felt would be abominations if deep fried. And Every. Single. One. Already exists as fair/carnival food somewhere in the US.

/I'm not sure I want to live in a world where people have paid money for deep fried Skittles
//Or deep fried giant gummy bears

I mean all around the world.
And I have never
I mean never
Seen a baked, whole wheat, tofu donut!
Thank you, Jesus!

This ditty, first heard in the early 1970s, has stuck in my head for far too long.

Let's go to the Iowa state fair, eat fried stuff, vomit, and go back for more!

think we'd had other foodtab posts about "best" tofu-donuts, but y'know, even given my hatred of deep-frying anything t'home, I might have to try it on.

I'm deep frying chicken today. Marinated in pickle juice.

Wasting the pickles seems a shame, so I will also deep fry them

The best fried pickles I ever had was at the speakeasy tavern in Gulfport,Mississippi. Opposite from the dock road.

I've tried many kinds so i think I'm qualified to say that the spears are best. Slices don't work right.
